While the main points of interest were well explained, there were many objects of interest that weren't explained along the way. (i.e. crops in fields; permanent structures). Comments regarding local music & customs in the areas we were to visit would have been appreciated.

Too much walking... got lost twice on public transportation... we could not read signs or speak the language even though we were given instructions via tour director. Hotels in Vienna and Prague were located too far from the center of the city... it would have been better for all of us (seven out of eight of us were over 65 years of age) had we been able to walk from the hotel to city center, restaurants, souvenir shops... much too far from the heart of the cities. I realize cost is a factor but I would rather pay more for the convenience and access, rather than be exhausted and disappointed all the time.

The good: We saw a great deal, and especially enjoyed the Museum of Terror (Budapest), the Jewish Quarter (Prague), the serenity of Salzburg and seeing Vienna for the first time. The optional excursion to the Eagles Nest was quite good. If the weather had been uncooperative, it would have been a waste of time/money.
The bad: Lots of time on buses with a tour director who was great at answering questions but not good at the running historical commentary we're grown accustomed to on other tours (Go Ahead and other tour companies).
Of the tours we've been on, we ranked this 4th. While we'd recommend it, I would do so with reservations.
Comments about Go Ahead: Very good company to deal with. They make traveling easy. Accomodations were good, especially in Salzburg. One hotel (Prague) was very smoky. The lobby was nearly inhabitable. If you suffer asthma, you would have been in trouble. Otherwise, the hotel was nice and nicely located.
Local tour guides were excellent as always.
Tour food is always the same. Nutritious, not memorable but entirely satisfactory.
At the end of our tour, we extended and stayed in Paris for 5 days using Rick Steves' book as our guide. This is a great way to conclude a trip -- you get to see something more and get to experience traveling independent of a tour company.

This trip is a must! Fabulous places to see, great food and nice comfortable hotels. Enjoyed the nighttime dinner cruise in Budapest and the the private concert dinner and castle tour. Ildie the tour guide is one of the best ever!

This was a beautiful tour. We got an excellent overview of these lovely cities. It was interesting to hear the changes after communism in Budapest and Prague. My hightlights were: Budapest: Danube River evening cruise, Vienna-Prader Ferris Wheel, and Prague Jewish Quarter walking tour.

Interesting "Lennon Wall" near the Charles bridge in Prague
We have done a lot of traveling, but this was our first tour. We were very happy with the tour. Having free time to explore on our own was a big plus! After the city tour by a local tour guide, we knew where and what we wanted to go back and see in more detail. Our tour director was great! She showed us how to utilize the local transit systems to get to and from our hotel - usually she gave us a location to meet her after a day of exploring on our own & stayed with us back to the hotel. If you are considering this tour, we highly recommend the evening dinner cruise in Budapest & the Danube day cruise in Vienna. The scenery is amazing!

Our guide was top-notch. The basic tour was excellent and the options had appeal to cover most any interests. We were totally pleased with our hotels, the included tours, the options and the information about each area that allowed us to plan our free time to explore. We thought we certainly got our money's worth on this trip. My husband and I have taken several planned trips and this one is exceptional. The breakfasts were excellent buffets and the included dinners were varied and good. Our main guide was experienced, well informed and very personable. The daily guides were also excellent. I think the listening devices really helped so you don't miss hearing the information.
Every part of this trip was good. The extras, the tour guide (and local guides), the foods, wines, the historical places and the fun places were equal to, or better than any other trip abroad we have made. This was our fourth with GAT, but not our last. We will join you again in April, 2012 for Paris City Tour. Thanks for taking care of your cusomers - us.

I am still remembering the serene experience of the Danube boat trip...the beautiful scenery, wonderful service on board and great company. On a stressful day, I can return to that moment and ahhhh all is better.
Had a great time. Extra excursions suggested by our tour director were excellent. The Danube River Night Dinner Cruise is not to be missed. Our tour director had grown up behind the "Iron Curtain" in Romania. His insights as to Prague and Budapest were fantastic.

One of the best trips I have ever taken, and I have traveled a lot. I have used several tour companies and Go Ahead ranks at the top. All the guides, the tour guide Paul and all the city guides, were wonderful. Not only were they smart, but they all had a great sense of humor. The hotels were wonderful and the food was great!

I loved the basic structure of the tour. Bus transfers with explanations from the tour director as we traveled from city to city, a tour in each city with an experienced local guide, a whole day and a half free to explore each city (we loved, loved, loved this aspect). We went on one optional excursion and had a ball at the salt mines!! The expert tour director was knowledgeable and very capable, the drivers were fine; the lunch stops on bus travel days were great, the hotels were fine, the included breakfasts were sumptuous and tasty, a fine start to each day. All around, a wonderful trip!
