"Best week of my life!"

I want to thank GoAhead Tours for the fantastice trip and exceptional tour guides on our recent travels to Italy. Our adventure started at the airport in Venice when we walked from the airport to a water-taxi waiting to take us to our hotel. We have never taken a boat to a hotel before! I overheard my husband telling a friend that it was the "best week of my life!" Can't ask for much more than that.

Couldn't Have Been Better

First trip to Italy. 9 consecutive sunny days. How did Go Ahead arrange that?
3 days each in Venice, Florence and Rome, including side trips to Pisa and Pompeii. Our tour director was fabulous, making sure we saw the most significant sites, filling in details on what we were seeing, selecting good local tour guides, and keeping us from getting lost. Did a ton of walking most days, so we slept well at night. Occasional drawbacks were information overload (so much to see), sites necessarily skipped (so much to see), and exhaustion from walking (so much to see). We were delighted with the whole experience and would reccommend it to anyone not too young (too much historical detail) . Those with restricted mobility would have to make arrangements to not have to do all the walking involved.

Wonderful Trip

Venice,Florence,Rome Italy! What a trip!
Wonderful weather for the week.
We took the trip due to Thanksgiving week here in the USA.
Can't say enough about the 9 day tour!
Food,Guide,Hotels,Bus,Tours,Tours Guides were so caring.
Wine Tasting Tour in Florence is a MUST!!!
To see David and the master pieces pictures will never do them justice.
Venice is beautiful
Rome....I will go back. Sistine Chapel I could have stayed all day and still not seen everything. There is so much history in Italy and MANY more things, places to see.
I will tell everyone I know to contact GoAheadTours. Stuart Harvey is GREAT.
The tour itself was wonderful. Everyone was so kind and caring.
The guides absolutely love their work and it shows through their depiction of the history.
AGAIN, I will contact GoAheadTours for my next trip.
Thank you for such a glorious time. My daughters and I had the time of our lives.
Sincerely,

Wonderful Italian trip

We had a great time touring Venice, Florence and Rome. I felt it was a perfect blend of guided tours and free time to explore each city. Our tour guide was great and gave us lots helpful information as well as wonderful historical background that really enhanced the trip. We highly recommend this trip!

Besides the flights the trip was amazing!!!

This was one of the best trips ever! Everyone on the tour was fun and enjoyable. I made lots of new friends. Our trip director was out of this world. Stewart went out of his way to make everyone enjoy there trip and was so knowledgable! I learned so much and enjoyed every minute while in Italy! The flight arangments were the only really bad thing. But, I knew that as soon as I was givin my flights. There was not alot of suport from the tour to change or make it better. However, the transpertation provided while in Italy was first class and very nice. I would say if you have a chance ...TAKE THIS TRIP! It is amazing.

This tour was at a leisurely pace and got to cover a vast cross section of the the Italy. I thoroughly enyoyed my trip particularly the stay in Venice on my birthday. It was a memorable one in which I danced on a gondola ride into the port of Venice. Bravo the Dina , the tour Director who got us all organized and up and running for 9 days! Excellent!

Exceeded expectations

An absolutely fabulous trip. Stuart, our tour director, was so knowledgable on all of the regional histories and details and did a tremendous job in prepping us for each excursion. His timing was impeccable as was his demeanor. Stuart really helped to make this trip what it was. The places we visited and thngs that we saw, the histories we learned were all amazing. It was well worth the time and expense for this lifetime experience. Our only complaint was the air flight booking made for us; rather thanbooking the bettert flights available, we were routed in a way that took 8-10 hours longer than necessary to get there and this is something you don't know about until it has already been done. Big thumbs down on that part of it!.

Trip of a lifetime!

One of my favorite experiences was the wine tasting excursion in San Gimiagno. It was a fun & special place. I'm so glad I brought several pairs of comfortable shoes for all the walking.

Awesome

Excellent trip. Well organized with visits to interesting and fun location.
The tour guides at our different stops were very good and well informed
As for our tour director Dina, she was excellent. You could tell she enjoyed what she did.
Would I plan another trip? Let’s just say plans are being discussed!

Venice, Florence & Rome (9 days)

Overall, we were very satisfied with the tour. Because of arranging the tour for 3 persons and 2 different address there were some problems getting mailings coordinated. Fortuantely, the Go Ahead staff was responsive to our phone calls and emails. End result - no problems. The hotels and meals provided through the tour were very satisfactory. The tour director (Alessandra) did an excellent job of keeping us informed and was very friendly and helpful. She was a "fount" of information. I don't know how she maintained her sanity in trying to keep 34 people together and on time. Which leads to the only downfall of the tour; too large and diverse a group. Using the "radio" headsets, you had to keep very close to the local guides. That wasn't always possible because of her moving faster than the slower members of the group. Solution - (a) smaller groups, (b) slow down the guide - more time, or (c). better radios.

Venice, Florence & Rome (9 days)

What I liked about the tour: Tour director - Alessandra - was absolutely great! She took care of the group, our schedules, luggage, tours, etc. From the first moment we met her in the airport upon arrival to Venice till our drop off in the airport of Rome, we enjoyed the way she worked with us. We are very thankful to her for the local trip she arranged to see Rome in the evening!
What I did not like about the tour: Very few options what to do and what to see outside of the scheduled tours. We feel like visiting main galleries (such as Uffizi, or Academy) could have been included as optional. We had a great time anyway, but we did our home work and came to Italy well prepared by ordering tours outside of GoAheadTours. We saw people frustrated, with less experience in International travel. They were not sure what to do in Venice on the 1st day we arrived. We all think that having just a dinner planned for the whole day was not enough. Alessandra offered some options but it did not help much if you needed tickets to the gallery (like in Florence). The trip should have been clearly advertised as primarily Walking trip because all of the city tours were set as walking tours with over 4 hours non-stop walk which is good for young and healthy and a big problem for not so young and not so healthy. We had to skip some of the excursion time to find a place to rest (it was over 5 hrs of walking in Florence). This was not too bad in Venice, but in Florence and Rome - it really was a big problem. The food that was included in the tour was great in Florence, very poor in Venice, was OK in Rome. The hotel restaurant in Venice could not accommodate and serve the breakfast to 3 tour groups at the same time. It was really bad in the morning to stay in lines to get food. The dinner on the 1st day was simply not good. We should have been given more time between restaurants opening in the morning and the beginning of the tours. When we stayed in Rome, we could eat breakfast only once out of 3 day stay because of the early time tours that we had booked. Whatever they provided as a boxed breakfast, was just an apple and a juice with a cracker, definitely could be better for the money we paid. I would not recommend this tour for an experienced traveler. It is good for the beginners, for people who are not too interested in Art and prefer city tour vs galleries.

What fun! Great tour director. FABULOUS tour guide in Venice, very good in Florence, pretty good in Rome (we were late, so perhaps that affected it). Days on which we changed cities were pretty long and tiring, but I don't see what one could have done about it. Liked the free time - didn't take any side trips and still FILLED our days.

I knew I would enjoy going to Italy, but never dreamed I would learn so much and enjoy it so much. Our tour director was so knowledgeable and the individual tour guide were great. The hotels were clean pleasant.
Venice is so tranquil. Very relaxing.
Florence is the place for art. WOW
Rome is beyond explanation. I was at aw.

We had a fantastic time in our trip with both of my duaghters that have never been to Italy. It was my idea to use go ahead since I have traveled with them before. It was the right decision! Both of my girls were very pleased especially with Stefania our tour guide throughout. She was funny and infomative and very down to earth. Everything went exactly as expected. I will definetly use go ahead again in my future travels.

Fell In Love With Italy

This was my first visit to Italy and the three cities that I visited - Venice, Florence, and Rome were the perfect combo for my first visit. The tour director was knowledgable, organized, and a pleasure to work with. It was nice to have the choice of the optional tours or to have free days. I did a little of both...a couple of optional tours and a few free days to do things that I wanted to do on my own. I look forward to planning my next trip to Italy.
