Loved Tuscany -the Spa and the walled towns.
This trip was literally "under the Tuscan Sun". Every vista was a painting. Our tour director, Mary, was outstanding and made extra efforts to get us to the right places at the right time. We especially loved that she had our bus driver drive up to a height above Florence so we could see this beautiful city at dusk from a hill top. The city/town tour guides were excellent. The Spa was amazing. Travelers should be aware that there is a fair amount of walking-seasoned travelers already know that buses may only park on the outskirts of walled medieval towns. March was a good time to go as there were no crowds nor waits to tour or eat. Those who wish to tour the Uffizi need to reserve days ahead. Mary made everything work just right for us and deserves a 4-star rating.

Fine description
We were fortunate that the weather was perfect the week were traveling. Normally, the weather is rainy and much colder. I'm not sure what our experience would have been and, actually, that is something to consider. We wouldn't have been able to experience the thermal pool in "normal" March weather and we would not have been happy since there was much downtime at the pool. Our tour director was a very nice person but she didn't extend herself in ways that I have experienced from Go Ahead in previous trips. (i.e.: during bus rides she said very little about the areas we were driving through and a microphone was available, she walked very fast and we had a man who had trouble walking. The group was looking out for him more than she was) The city tour guides were perfectly fabulous! The bus drivers were wonderful. The hotel was clean and we enjoyed the clean sheets each day.My biggest criticism was that Go Ahead accepted a small group to make this tour happen. There were only ten of us. That was fine but I was with three other friends and we were the ones who were put in a position to make or break a day trip because we were told there had to be a minimum of 8 people. I did not like being in that position. There should be, somehow, a way to accept a smaller group for side-trips if the original group is small. I

Just What I Needed
After a very hectic and occasionally emotionally rough first several months of the year, I decided I needed to take care of myself, and when I saw the Tuscany Spa Escape in the last minute trips, I knew it was the one for me. The idea of getting pampered at a spa sounded good, and what better place to go than Tuscany, where people have enjoyed the mineral waters for centuries.
The services at Grotta Guisti were really restorative, as was sitting alongside the thermal pool and looking at the countryside, not to mention the others around the pool. Very entertaining for lots of reasons. The cafe at the spa had good, healthy food, good portions, nice wine at very reasonable prices, and we could eat at tables overlooking the pool. It became our go-to place for lunch.
The touring was good, the weather was great, and the group small. The last evening at the winery was well worth it. Our group was small, but we fell into two smaller groups for the tours and our free time. Our group was very congenial, and I laughed more that week than I had in a long time, which was as therapeutic for me as the spa. Mary our guide was really fun and very accommodating.
I had such a good time I am considering doing it next year, except a number of us are considering the Scottish castles next spring.... What choices!

Tuscan Spa Resort With My Daughter
This was a wonderful and beautiful experience that I shared with my 26 year old daughter. My daughter was the youngest of a group of 10 yet she had such a wonderful time. I highly recommend this tour to anyone that wants to relax and just enjoy the spa treatments, history, and beautiful sites that you get to visit. This was a graduation gift for my daughter from me and I couldn't not have been happier with the end results of this tour. It is an experience that she will never forget. Just a relaxing GIRLS tour!!

I enjoyed the trip to Tuscany the people were very friendy toward me everywhere I went as always when I am abroad. The food and wine I might add was expecially outstanding. The people at the Hotel were most helpful and friendly and when I was leaving it was like I was a family member leaving. I was very impressed with not so much the small talk, but they really cared and were glad you came to visit and invited me to come back for another visit. the Spa was a very friendly environment and all of the staff was very nice and friendly as well.

Fantastic trip
This was one of the best tours I have ever taken mostly due to our tour guide, Mary. She made sure all our needs were met and recommended restaurants, stores, and sites for us to visit, all of which were superb. At the spa, she made sure we received the treatments of our choice and kept us on schedule when some the group were lingering too long. Mary made the trip and I hope she is the guide on the next trip I take to italy or France.

A fun group of 22 women in my group along with 8 others from other parts of the US enjoyed a week at a spa town with great excursions. Our tour guide, Stefania, did so much extra. The trip was a grand success and we are planning a Taste of Northern Italy and the Italian Riviera for next October.

First Experience Overseas
This trip was my first overseas, so I was very nervous! Everything went smoothly from start to finish!
Our tour director, Stefania, went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves! Guiseppe was a great bus driver!
I met great new friends that I hope to maintain relationships with for life!
My dream trip to Italy was everything I hoped for! What a great way to spend a 40th Birthday!

Savoring Tuscany
Stefania Ball is fantastic as a tour guide! Our driver Guessepi was also great. Depending on which optional tours you selected and how many, the trip could be just relaxing or include lots of additional exploring.
The Gusti Grotto was nice, but it would have been easier if maybe there was a spa in Montecatini we could stay at to save all the transportation time. It was a large group to get everyone scheduled. If your appointment was first or last you had to rush to get the bus or be ready.
The hotel was okay, but nothing to write home about.

Not what I expected :o(
For the price of this so called luxurious tour, the hotel was less than great, the spa visits required busing too, and one day we were kicked out of the pool because the pool was closing to non-hotel people even though we still had people on the tour getting messages for another hour+.

Absolutely Amazing
I recently took this tour from May 7th - 15th and it was an absolutely an amazing trip. Gabriella, our tour guide was incredible. Not only did she share a great deal of history of Italy, but she made sure all of our needs were met and was a delight. We we fortunate to have a small group which made it even nicer and everyone got along great. The Spa treatments were wonderful with the Grotto being my favorite. I could not get enough and felt totally pampered. I chose to do all of the 4 excursions offered and I am so glad I did because I got to see Italy without the worries of transportations, not knowing all the sites, it was worth the extra expense and I was not disappointed and glad I chose all four excursions. My trip to Italy will always be a memorable one and I highly recommend Go Ahead Tours as it made my first trip to Italy a memorable one. Can't wait to book my next tour!

This tour was everything and more than we expected. It was a first trip for our two daughters and offered experience with several modes of transportation within Italy; the tour bus, of course, train for the return from Cinque Terre, and excursion boat to get to Cinque Terre. The entire tour offered an excellent variety of experiences as well as opportunities to tailor day trips to personal needs away from the tour group. There were extra activities set up by our tour guide during the course of the trip that were specially tailored to this group's desires; a special dinner, and a wine tasting, for example. GoAhead Tours also helped with travel details for additional travel for my husband and me at the conclusion of the designated tour.

Relaxation and Culture
Being on this tour was the best combination of relaxation (being at the spa) and learning about the northern region of Tuscany. The mix of history, culture, food, wine and being in various venues made each day an adventure. Taking advantage of all the excursions brought Italy even more to light. The tour director was magnificent in that she was so knowledgeable and addressed everyone's needs and made the trip a very memorable one.

Dream Trip
The hotel was fine, the Spa was relaxing, and the food was sublime! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, caring and very attuned to the needs of the group. She worked tirelessly on our behalf to make sure we had a wonderful experience. Take advantage of all that the tour offers and go on all of the optional excursions. I was very glad that I did, and it was well worth the money! I can't wait for my next trip!

Overall trip was very good. Tour Director Gabriella Graziotti was excellent. All our excursions were cancelled the day before we were departing. Gabriella went over and above to ensure we had a pleasant time and helping us find activities to participate in. We did have some hangups due to the ash cloud but these were handled nicely.

Our tour director, Gabriella, made this trip exceptional. The spa was fabulous and the staff there was so accomodating. The excursions to the hill towns and Florence were so enjoyable. The scenery was spectacular and our meals were wonderful.

Unique & Fun Spa Trip

A friend invited me to accompany her on the Tuscan Spa Week. I had never traveled with a tour group, always preferring to strike out on my own. Interestingly 16 women from 4 different states (no husbands or signficant others) had signed up for this tour at this time! It was delightful and lots of fun as we made new friends and celebrated with old friends, especially after hours on the hotel's rooftop deck!
What I most appreciated was the variety of the offered side tours (Loved Lucca, Cinque Terra was heaven to me travelling by boat on the cobalt Mediterranean) and the willingness of our tour guide, Barbara, to listen to the group's desires and try to fulfill them. My favorite thing about this tour was that we stayed in one hotel and did not have to change hotels throughout the tour. This allowed us to soak up the wonderful little towns of Montecatini Terme and Montecatini Alto --restaurants, shopping, gelato shops, historical points of interest and oh, the Opera!! Because of our central location we could travel a half hour to an hour in any direction to experience the fullness and richness of Northern Italy. And we did!!
The spas are definitely European and I enjoyed experiencing some of the more unique offerings (hydro massage and cold mud pack) in these Italian spas.The Carousel's night lights and the red funiculare that connected Terme to Alto are special memories of this enjoyable trip.
