First trip overseas

This was my first experience overseas and with a tour group. I was completely impressed at the organization and helpfulness of the staff starting when I booked the trip. All questions were answered by the Go Ahead staff and the tour director and coach driver. All were very friendly and approachable. I would highly recommend Go Ahead Tours for any tour that is of interest.

Awesome trip

Loved this trip from beginning to end. The sights of Scotland are breathtaking, from the architecture in Edinburgh to the highlands and lakes and finally the Isle of Skye. Learned so much about the history. Reuben White was one of the best, as was Joe the bus driver. Finally, the people we travelled with were tops!

We had a great time thanks to our tour director Reuben. Good food, hotels and excursions plus free time to enjoy. We went on Mach 22-31-2012 and the weather even cooperated, we had not a drop of rain.!!

Scotland and the Castles --

Not enough castles and too many forts. Did have to pay for too many excursions

Scotland and the castles --

great tour. Wanted to see more castles and only 1 fort . too many trips we had to pay for. Great bus driver and tour guide. Rueben is fabulous.

Amazing!

My trip to Scotland was my first oversea experience and Go Ahead Tours could not have been more accomodating! The tour guide and bus driver were fantastic and the beauty of Scotland was just breath taking. I had such an amazing time that I knew if I ever made it "over the pond" again I would be once again using Go Ahead Tours. My only regret from Scotland was that I didn't extend the extra couple days to see some more sights but I have learned my lesson and on the next trip I have coming up I will definitely be staying the extra time. I highly reccommend this Scotland tour to anyone looking to see beautiful castles and scenes full of serenity :)

Scotland Forever

I had a great time on this tour with one exception. Three years ago I took my daughter with me and we spent more time on the Isle of Skye and had lunch in a small town on the Isle. I was looking forward to doing this again with my wife but that was not to be the case. I was somewhat disappointed. I would suggest that you offer a side trip to Sterling to see the Wallace Monument and a tour of Sterling Castle. Sterling is just a short train ride from Edinburgh and the ride is quite pleasant.

Edinburgh and the Castles of Scotland

A wonderful sampling of the highlights of Scotland. The castles and countryside took my breath away. I am a big animal and nature lover and enjoyed so much seeing the unusual coat of the Highland cows, the sheep and the beautiful natural landscapes. No way to put it into words. I also learned much about the history behind many of the sites we visited from a very informative and charming guide.

Excellent Information Content with a Few Exception

While the overall content of the information content on this trip was excellent there were a few exceptions I think should be changed:
The Loch Ness Museum stop was 'hokey' at best and not a good use of our time. Realizing some guests might be interested in the 'myth' I can understand covering it, but a drive by would be plenty!
The stay in Inverness could easily be another night. This is a beautiful area and the options were worthwhile. Felt a bit rushed. The hotel was adequate, but needed some renovation and repairs.
While the hotel in Ballachulish was very nice and the views spectacular the day spent driving to Isle of Skye and then back to the hotel was very long. Is there an option to do something else, and perhaps add a day in Glasgow instead of having two days at this site?
In Glasgow area visiting 2 museums and having only 30 minutes of time to look around in each was pretty much a waste, except for the potty and food necessity in the first (Burrell). Suggest more time there and skip the 2nd stop at the museum near the university! On this subject, the city guide there while very nice was not at all interesting. Very disjointed with little apparent thought given to what was of interest to guests.
All of this is offset by having an excellent tour director in Rueben! We've taken 11 tours overall and he was one of the top 2-3! Great balance of professional care, content, fun, and personality! A real winner in our estimation.

Excellent Tour

I had been on another tour to the same region and this one was the best ever. Our tour guide was great and we enjoyed the tour. There were several places that we wished we had more time but on the whole things went very well. Enjoyed the choice of excursions. I learned a lot about Scottish history from Ruben and enjoyed the group dynamics. Everyone was really great to be with. My favorite place was the Isle of Glencoe hotel. It was a great place to stay and the staff was very nice. I am of Scottish heritage and I was glad to see and hear about my ancestors in their own country.
Our bus driver was excellent and we enjoyed his company and his knowledge.

Scotland + Reuben = Perfect Vacation!

Scotland alone made for a wonderful trip. But our Tour Director Reuben made it even better with his knowledge, organization and personality. We would go anywhere with him! The drive through Glencoe was breathtaking! Only wish we had more time in St. Andrews.

Edinburgh & the Castles of Scotland

This was a wonderful trip to a beautiful country. Our guide Reuben White was exceptionally well informed, organized, empathetic and very personable. The real surprise (having taken tours before) was that the bus driver Joe (Cullen, I think) was his perfect compliment. He also was willing to chat and share when asked and was a safe, excellent driver. We took most of the optional tours and found them very worthwhile.

Trip of a Lifetime!

Being of Scottish heritage, this was really the only place I wanted to visit.....and it did not disappoint! The Tour Director went out of his way to make me feel cared for and was so informative and interesting to listen to as we made our way thru the countryside. He was more than just reciting information, but telling us stories worth our attention. His humor was an added bonus. I wish we could have him as our tour director on whatever country we choose for our next trip!

An okay trip that could have been better.

My biggest complaint with respect to this trip is that unless you added some of the "Optional Excursions" for an added expense, you were left to your on devices. St Andresw's and the Isle of Skye should be part of the trip. Personally I don't go on these trips to wander around and shop, this to me is a waste of time and money, I go to see the country and to learn the history .
On a positive note, the tour director was a gem, as was the bus driver. The country side was beautiful, the weather much better than expected and the people of Scotland a joy.

Scotland & Castles

Scotland is very beautiful and a wonderful surprise. The people are friendly
and the Highlands are a photographers delight.
I went in mid July & the weather was great with many beautiful wild flowers.
I LOVE SCOTLAND AND WOULD GO BACK AGAIN.
