Disappointing Trip

Too tight on air connections. Victoria Falls extension amounted to 22 minutes at the least interesting part of the falls. Long hours of bus rides without any interesting breaks.

A trip NOT to be missed!

Saw the big 5 and so many other animals in their natural habitat! The country is so beautiful with the wild flowers and the most interesting geological formations. Table Mountain is surely one of the 7 wonders or the world. The view from there is breath taking. A lovely country with a coast line that is unequal to any other.

This was a fabulous blend of nature, food, wine and comfort. We saw game preserves, all the big 5 animals, and dined in luxury. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to travel in safety and comfort while viewing some of the most beautiful and wild places in Africa.

Tiring but Terrific!

Having traveled on a fast paced tour with EF previously, I knew what the Itinerary for South Africa meant: on the move pretty constantly, lots of sitting on the bus to get to the next cool place, plenty of game preserve visits but not so much in the cultural realm. It was all that, and although all of us were weary towards the end, the pace slowed and having leisure time at the end was a good thing. There would be no other way to cover so many miles and see such a big slice of South Africa in 2 1/2 weeks. For those of us from California, the return trip is grueling: 48 hours including a 7 hour layover in D.C. Again, few other options, but stand warned if you choose this one!
I would recommend a couple more 2 night stays at the beginning or middle of the trip so as to get a better feel for the areas. Four nights in Capetown seemed more than necessary. We went straight through Swaziland, which seems like a place to get a bit of the indigenous culture of Africa.
Despite the fast pace, our tour was very well coordinated and managed by our tour director. He was organized, kept us on track while also being responsive to our needs as they arose.
As long as one knows what to expect, I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants an exciting overview of South Africa and it's fabulous game life.

If you want an opportunity to experience much of what South Africa has to offer, and are comfortable being constantly on the go, then this tour is for you. It had it all -- wild animals at different reserves, an opportunity to experience a variety of habitats, a native village, local markets, small towns, big towns, wineries, history, culture, good food, excellent wines, an extremely knowledgeable tour guide, who went out of his way to make sure everyone was as comfortable as possible, and wonderful travel companions.
The extensions were well worth the extra cost. Having an opportunity to pet and feed elephants was one of the tour's highlights as was the Township tour and dinner. S. Africa is an emerging nation and poverty and beauty are at its foundation. This 21-day tour included a taste of everything. Of course, now I want to go back for the close-ups: more animals, nature hikes, authentic S. African meals, and wine!

Wonderful trip

Our trip was very exciting well planned and extremely well directed . Our toir guide, Duane was the best tour guide we have ever had. He knew so much about So. Africa and you could tell he loved his country. He took excellent care of the group and I do believe he truly loved being with us. I don't think we would been able to to see anymore then we did. It was wonderful.

South Africa Discovery South Africa Discovery

This trip covers alot of ground quickly but is a worthwhile experience. The key is to find a dynamic tour guide which we had for sure.If you do not like guided tours and desire to walk more , then I would advise a more independent option than what this trip offers.

South Africa Discovery

Had a great time, highly recommend taking the Victoria Falls extension and the included Makuni village tour. Also found the Township tour and dinner option along with the Robben Island tour to be both entertaining & educational experiences. As for the various safaris (i.e. Kruger ), did not see as much wildlife due to colder/cooler winter climate especially during early morning excursions.

South Africa

This trip was very well organized assuring that we had maximum time at the best sites. The safari vehicles were comfortable, and we saw so many animals. In other areas, for those having a hard time walking, transportation was provided. The food was mostly provided, and it was out of this world. I really enjoyed visiting the township and eating barbecue with the locals. This was definitely one of the best trips I've taken .

Trip of a Lifetime

The South Africa Discovery trip was phenomenal in every way! Our tour director could not have been better and the itinerary was so jam-packed with exciting things to do and great places to visit that rather than be exhausting, it was invigorating and stimulating. All of the hotels were very well situated and of high quality. All of the included and optional tours were fantastic. I have travelled extensively and without a doubt this trip was the best yet. I have already booked another Go Ahead tour for this summer...your quality and organization are the best in the busines!

Had a wonderful small group. Saw the Big 5 & many, many more animals. Got some great shots, too many MB to post. And the TD, Duane, was the best I've ever had: so full of history, organized and so helpful in our individual wants and needs. The microlight & helicopter flights over Victoria Falls should be mandatory! My only disappointment was not getting to ride an African elephant. One needs to make reservations way before the Knysna excursion. There just are not enough adjectives to describe this exciting trip through this beautiful, mountainous country.

My First Adventure

I am a senior citizen who had never traveled out of the United States before this trip. It was way out of my comfort zone for a first overseas trip because of the very long flight from Alaska to Johannesburg. However, my friends convinced me that I should go when the opportunity presented itself. I had a fabulous time, and the trip exceeded my expectations. We had a wonderful overview of South Africa, saw lots of animals, birds and other wildlife. Our tour director was excellent, really knew his country and made the whole experience come alive.

South Africa Discovery

A tour that was not a vacation, on the go all the time, either at airports or loading unloading the bus. Incredible time consuming, should cut it down, show less but in more details at a slower pace. You can imagine how long to takes to load and unload 29 people, 1/2 of the vacations is wasted. You followed the advertised itinerary, but most people don't read it very carefully. When you mention Johanessburg 3 times, people expect to see more than the airport. Saw nothing in Swaziland except a native market. The bus parked there for 3 hours. Good overview of the nature, but not of Africa.

Trip of a lifetime

We had a great time on this trip - it was more physically challenging than expected - due mostly to the movement of luggage thru 2 in-country flights. However, we could not have seen/done as much without those flights you just need to know it and plan for it. Hotels and food were good to very good, out guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job given that he was dealing with 29 people with different ideas of what they wanted from the trip. The extension to Victoria falls should not be missed. Recommend this trip to anyone looking for a unique experience. The safari's were outstanding!
