Naples, Sorrento and Rome

The tour was wonderful. What could be wrong with seeing Italy. I feel some of the best parts of the trip were because of our tour director, Valerio. He was very knowledgeable and willing to share. In addition, the other blue badge guides Nadia, in Naples and Capri, John Carlo at the Colosseum and Marcus in Pompeii really rounded out a truly enjoyable trip.

Naples, Sorrento, and Rome

Our trip was beautiful. The excursions were well planned and informative.
Valerio Borghese was a wonderful tour director, he was knowledgeable,
calm, and patient. (Believe me, his patience was tested.) I did not want to
leave Italy:( I plan to return as soon as possible!!!

We were so lucky that the weather was perfect (68-72F). Every place we went was so beautiful. I especially like the scenes walking down to the water in Sorrento. We arrived in Naples two days before the group. Naples has a lot of characters and the best pizza and seafood pasta. And my favorite city is still Rome. The 116 bus is very interesting because it is so small and it goes through the narrow streets near major attractions. The arrangement made by goaheadtours was great. The bus took us to somewhere everyday. So we could just relax and enjoy. They also took us to Caserta and Montecassino which otherwise would be hard to go. The food was delicious. People are very friendly and helpful. Amazingly, I bumped into my tour director from my 2007 tour!
I wish I were brave enough to try the chair lift in Anacapri and ran faster to see all the fountains at Caserta. Well, there is always next time …

Bucket List # 1

I'd been to Sorrento and Rome 11 years ago and I wanted to see it one more time. I did enjoy the brief time in Naples and the visit to the museum. Our Naples hotel was within 5 minutes walk of the church with "The Veiled Christ". I was particularly hoping to get to see this and I had time to before we met for dinner. This was a real plus for me. Thank you.

This was a incredible trip. It was the first time we visited Italy. Nothing in the movies, books, pictures can compare to actually seeing Rome, Pompeii, Amalfi.
Everything was bigger then life. Rome and Sorrento were awesome..didn't really care for Naples but it was only one night. The food in Sorrento and Rome was to die for. Limoncello is our new favorite beverage. We had two tour guides Marcelous in Naples and Sorrento and Fabritzio in Rome. They couldn't have been more different or more interesting they really made it special. Everyone we met on the tour was friendly and fun. We truly made memories to last forever. We can wait to book our next trip.

This was a first-time trip to Europe for my mother and I and we could not have been happier!!! First of all, our Tour Director Alfredo was phenomenal. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, engaging, and had a great sense of humor. We loved how everything was planned and transportation and admissions were all well-coordinated for us. We were highly impressed with the quality of the hotels and food that was provided for us with the tour. There was plenty of time to explore each of the locations on our own, and Alfredo was more than happy to take us on walking tours if we were extra adventurous. Thanks Go Ahead Tours for exceeding our expectations and providing us with the vacation of a lifetime at a tremendous value!!!

WOW

What a great time we had. Our tour guide, Alfredo, was amazing. We managed to do all the things described in the tour brochure and more. Alfredo did everything to make us comfortable and make the tour exciting. The weather was beautiful. Naples was great fun and Sorrento was even better. Our local guide in Pompeii was not happy because we were a small group(15) so he seemed rushed to get through. This should have been the highlight of the tour and it was not. We did not add the extension, so our time in Rome was brief. We did get to the Vatican to see the Sistine Chapel and the museum on our own but it was a rush. I would recommend the extension to anyone who has the time. We will just have to take this tour again. The best part of the tour was the scenery, the food, and our guide, Alfredo.

Most fulfilling tour

My dream of going to Italy finally came through. We were blessed with wonderful weather except for the morning storms that canceled the viewing of Pompeii. Our tour director was attuned to our needs and went out of her way to ensure that an ailing participant accessed sites easily with the wheelchair.
The hotels accommodations were comfortable with excellent room cleaning service.
But in comparison to our trip in 2009, the departing international flight from Dulles to Munich on United Airlines was less than satisfactory. I realize that you are not asking about the airlines, but I feel this needs to be said. On Nov 3 we were on flight # 902 . The flight attendants were rude, expected passengers to store luggage with no direction, yelled from the back at takeoff when they realized an overhead bin was still open yet did not complete predeparture checks. The meal was substandard with dryed out carrots and wilted, cold-burned lettuce that I would not have served to anyone in my house. Generally I can hear from rows ahead what the menu choices are. This time I could not. When the attendant asked 'beef or pasta', I asked what kind of beef. She replied 'airplane beef' as though I should know I wasn't going to get anything decent to eat since I was in economy. The attendants kept rushing up the aisles toward business class as though they didn't want to linger in economy in case someone might need something. In addiiton, my husband's seat # 41G was at an angle. He couldn't sit with his feet straight forward since the floor anchor bar from the seat ahead of him was in the way. The departing flight from Munich to Naples on Lufthansa was quite a contrast with comfortable seats and leg room, plus pleasant flight attendants. Also in contrast was our returning flight on Nov. 13 from Rome to Newark on United/Continental. Good food and pleasant attendants.
We would definitely book another tour, just hope you choose another departing international airline.

Great Experience

This was an amazing trip. Great people, tour director, tour guides, hotels and amazing sights. If weather had cooperated, we would have seen Pompei which would have been fantastic. But everything else was wonderful and we would go again in a heartbeat!

charming and historical

in my opinion naples could be skipped entirely. dirty city
pompeii was closed the day we were to go, no substitution or accommodation made. dumped back at hotel.....would like $$ refund. many on the tour would have substituted pompeii for either capri or amalfi drive. very disappointing that nothing was provided...like free dinner for the group for ex.
rome should have an included dinner....after drive from sorrento it would have been nice not to have to look for a restaurant the first night. hotel was far from center of city....not many restaurants nearby. and nothing in walking distance. poor choice of hotel location.
if no $$ refund is awarded i will not be using goahead again .

Affordable, Amazing, Awesome

We had a wonderful time on our trip to Italy. We'd never done a trip in November before and were somewhat concerned about the weather. It turned out pretty close to perfect. The food and wine were outstanding and by traveling in the off season, the crowds were light. The Amalfi coast is more beautiful than we could have imagined and limoncello is a delightful drink. We had plenty of free time to see the sights the tour didn't cover and our tour director prepared us for everything. Fantastic trip all around.

Awesome Trip

The trip was well organized and with efficiency. Our tour director was nice, entertaining and took very good care of everything. Loved this trip as well as one other to England and Scotland several years ago that was also Go Ahead. I look forward to another trip with them.

Fabulous Tour Guide

Enrico was a wonderful Tour Guide - he made the trip. After the last tour we took w/ you, we were very reluctant to book another Go Ahead Tour due to the fact that the Guide on that trip was terrible - we never did many of the things advertised for that trip. Enrico did all that he could to ensure that everyone had a good time. Some of the folks required a good deal of care and he took excellent care of them and the rest of us, too. I'd book any tour that Enrico was guiding.

The best part of Italy

We enjoyed almost everything very much. Exception was the evening
musical show (tarantella). The music was much too loud and the beef dinner was terrible. (The fish one was fine.) Our guide was very helpful, informative and friendly. Everyone liked him. Since I wear hearing aids, I was unable to benefit from the "Whisper". Suggest that earphones be available for persons using hearing aids.

Southern Italy in the Fall

Excellent guide, well paced itinerary, nice hotels (Rome location could be better), congenial group. Sorrento and Amalfi are charming, Rome is always grand. Best time of year for weather and not crowded with tourists.

I love Italy

This was our third trip to Italy with 'Go Ahead'. Again we had a great time; how could you have a bad time in Italia.
Our guide Enrico was great, very professional and caring.
If possible I would have preferred a little more free time, especially at mealtimes. The quick lunches with the group were okay but I'd rather have the choice and the time to go to a restaurant alone, just me and my wife.
The Colliseum was closed because of bad weather and that was apparently the planned bathroom stop. Three plus hours without a stop was a littel uncomfortable. Enrico did eventually find a public restroom.
Samll problems but overall a great trip.
