I have wanted to visit Venice, Italy, for years. This trip gave us three days in the beautiful city. The waterways are just what you've seen in pictures, but being able to travel the Grand Canal, and taking a gondola ride were amazing experiences. I found Dubrovnik, Croatia, to be situated in a beautiful location. The blueness of th Aegean and Adriatic seas was incredible. It seemed such a peaceful place to visit. I even brought a snow globe depicting the setting, but had it confiscated in the Boston airport.! I had never been to Santorini, Cotokolon (sp?), or Rhodes. I enjoyed these, although I must confess Santorini and Rhodes were my favorites. The geographical beauty of the Greek Isles is a real attraction. I would take this cruise again in a heartbeat. The only thing I would change is the food that was served for dinners. Not one meal stands out as being outstanding.

Review 2 for Italy, Croatia & the Greek Islands Cruise
The ports we visited were beautiful with lots to do. They were mostly tourist destinations, so a lot of shopping and most people spoke at least some English. This was our first cruise, and it isn't really my type of vacation because of the rigorous schedule (off the ship at this time, on the ship at this time, eat dinner at this time, etc.). In some ports we only had a couple of hours to explore and then had to get back to the ship. The Costa line is very European from the food to the passengers. We liked that part ourselves, but other Americans were not as enchanted with it. The staff couldn't have been nicer, and I can't see how they could have made embarkation and debarkation any easier (it was very orderly, but took a while). Our Go Ahead tour director was wonderful, but unlike other tours I have taken, there wasn’t much value to the director other than initially getting us on the ship, seating us together for dinner, and getting us to the airport in Venice at the end. We were on our own for the most part and even the optional excursions were booked through the cruise line. All in all a great trip with lots of memories.
My friend and I have taken two other Go Ahead tours(both land tours). We were attracted to this cruising tour as it included Venice(which is my favorite world city)and an itinerary of ports that we had not visited before. Unfortunately, my travel companion has limited mobility and could not participate comfortably in any of the shore excursions. This tour is "Easy" only if one stays on board the ship. It would be useful if you mentioned this in the tour description. Of course, l could and did go off on my own, but traveling is so much nicer when shared with a companion. That was a bit of a disappointment, but from my own perspective each stop had its own unique charms which I enjoyed immensely. Venice is always magical, Bari was unexpectedly charming, and Olympia allowed me to tread where the ancients competed. Wow! Santorini, Rhodes, and Dubrovnic were equally enchanting.

Review 5 for Italy, Croatia & the Greek Islands Cruise
The service was great but the food was the worst I ever had. It was obvious the cruse line was trying to maximize their profit by buying the cheapest food they could get. Everything was bad from the watered down orange juice, watered down egg mix for the omelet stations to the extremely fatty and gristly meat. My meal on the plane ride home was much better than any meal on the ship. This was the first cruise I was ever on that did not offer lobster ever. We also had inquired about smoking on the ship and were told that smoking was restricted. The main smoking lounge was in the main atrium on the ship and smoke was everywhere. If you hate cigarette smoke and like good food avoid this ship.

Review 6 for Italy, Croatia & the Greek Islands Cruise
This tour is rated a 1 in the catalog. Actually, it's only a 1 if you don't get off the ship. Nearly all of the excursions to the ports are rated a 2 or higher, so if you have any mobility problems, you would have difficulty negotiating the amount of walking, climbing, etc. involved Go Ahead Tours should add a disclaimer to their rating so potential travelers would be aware of this. Many of the .people on the tour expressed disappointment in the ship, Costa Fortuna, myself included. The ship was lovely, but the food and the shows were below those you would find on an American cruise line. If you're not a smoker, you will be unhappy with the many areas of the ship where smoking is allowed. Some of the decks did not go through from bow to stern, so navigating the ship was somewhat confusing and inconvenient. I would not cruise again on this ship, and I would encourage Go Ahead to select another cruise line, an opinion many of my fellow travelers expressed. The itinerary of ports was excellent. All were beautiful and worth visiting.

Review 7 for Italy, Croatia & the Greek Islands Cruise
As a first time cruiser, I had quite a few preconcieved notions of what lay in store for me. I was pleasantly surprised. The Costa Fortuna works like a mini-town and houses a melting pot of cultures. The ports of call were lovely, one better than the next. Dubrovnik was my favorite - definitely a place I'd like to go back to. The Go Ahead Tour director was very helpful and made everything so easy. If you're a cruise enthusiast, you must go on this Go Ahead tour!

Review 8 for Italy, Croatia & the Greek Islands Cruise
Very unhappy with this cruise - if it were my first Go Ahead tour I would NEVER take another. Cruise ship not at all up to standard that Go Ahead has come to let their customers expect and want. Ship WAY too crowded - we were right over main ballroom and felt the base beat shake our room every night until 2:30 am. No place t\o sit and relax and read. Dining room food OK - cafeteria very very average. Ports good - not ship

Enjoyed every minute of it. Wish we could have spent more time in Santorini, Dubrovnik and San Marco Square in Venice. Travelled a long way only to spend a few hours in each place, so much to see and do! Chiara is a great leader, kept us fully informed about everything. Was not impressed with daily the "hurry up" and "stop." That's where we lost our valuable time!

Review 10 for Italy, Croatia & the Greek Islands Cruise
The ports visited were great; especially Olympia. The cruise ship and the cruise line, Costa, were terrible. Too many people packed into too little space. No indoor relaxarion areas; only bars with waitstaff constantly pestering you to buy drinks. Only 3 decks out of 12 where you could go from front to back of ship; one, deck 5, through casxino area, smoky and crowded. Dining riom crowded but food okay. Buffet food so-so at best. LOUD entertainment (??) every night until 2-2;30 am. In summary, Cpsta Cruise :Line is an insult to loyal Go Ahead customers!

Review 11 for Italy, Croatia & the Greek Islands Cruise
Should have gone in October when it was a little warmer, but overall the trip was great. The Go Ahead tour director was just great. She was very helpful in making sure we had all the information we needed wherever we stopped. The ports of call were the best for the length of the tour (cruise). Would highly recomment to anyone who would like to see Venice, Greek Isles and Dovronick. Wouldn't mind doing it again.

Review 13 for Italy, Croatia & the Greek Islands Cruise
Overall, we enjoyed this tour but do have suggestions to improve it. Our guide, Chiarra, could have met with us more often, giving us more details of what to expect. It was more of a Costa Cruise than a GoAhead tour. Parts were hurried, i.e. we wanted more time, not just a night tour, in Mykonos. We actually stayed aboard ship that evening so never even stepped on Mykonas. The tours of Olympia and Dubrovnik were the best tours, however, we wanted to be with friends we had met but they were on a different bus and we never even saw them during the Olympia tour. This should have been arranged by Chiarra. The tour in Venice was good and understandably rushed because of the inclement weather. Bussing to and from the airport was handled well and we enjoyed the Courtyard by Marriott.

Review 14 for Italy, Croatia & the Greek Islands Cruise
It was a beautiful tour, and the cruise ship was fine. We visited some wonderful islands. However it was listed in the caralog as "lesiurely", but I found the shore trips somewhat challenging. Occasionally we had to board ferries to take us to the ports. It was diffiult getting into and out of these boats. Also, there was more walking than the literature indicated. I would suggest the tour be listed as at least a "2".

Review 16 for Italy, Croatia & the Greek Islands Cruise
Ship was too large w/ too many passengers to enjoy all the facilities. Smoke-filled lounges & casinos (should indicate in tour literature that smoking is allowed & where). Food quality was fair--had much better food on other cruises. Accomodations were fine and steward servicing room was excellent. Too short of time in each port to see sights sufficiently (long lines to reenter ship cutting down on sightseeing time, especially in Santorini). Long lines to sign up for individual tours aboard ship, website for cruise line did now work & couldn't book tours ahead of time. Tour guide was very friendly, knowledgeable but with this type of tour not too much interaction. Did not think the trip was worth the cost.

Review 17 for Italy, Croatia & the Greek Islands Cruise
Our ship cabin was very good, loved having the balcony. All of the local tour guides were outstanding. Met some warm and interesting people in our group.
My family has taken other GA Tours and loved them. But they were land tours and this was a cruise. Go Ahead provided very little additional value to this type of tour. None of the excursions were included in the price and our tour guide only went with us on one excursion. The final day in Venice was very disappointing. Our tour guide took us to the palace and then left us on our own for the rest of the time there. Where did she go? She could have invited any who wanted to go with her to another site or out for lunch...something! We had very little planned interaction with the other tour members. We actually met some very nice people in our tour in the airport on the way home! She could have taken us on an initial tour of the boat, arranged for all of us to meet in one of the lounges at night...anything. This was a very expensive tour that we could have booked ourselves and had just as good a time.

If you take this tour, take the pre or post trip to Venice. We had three nights and could have used at least 3 more. It is an incredible place.
Ask for Ziggy as your tour guide. She is excellent. Request her on the boat and Venice extension.
The young lady we had on the boat who lived in Rome pressured us to give her our reviews before we departed. This is highly unethical and unprofessional. We did not comply with her attempts. She did not work very hard.
