We have traveled extensively and with many other tour companies. We will never use any other company in the future except Go Ahead. From the initial on-line information, we were hooked. The telephone people are accessible and will answer all questions. The mailings tell you in detail what you need and can do pre-trip to enhance your experience - or get a visa. Once you're on your way, all aspects of the trip are well handled, the hotels and meals superb, and the guides knowledgeable and fun. In Kenya, our guide Gigi was the best! He knew the answers to our questions and his culture was explained well to us. He was such fun and terrific with our two teenage grandsons. The Kenya trip was my dream come true! We saw the big five and more. We saw two cheetah kills! If you only can go on one trip - it must be to Kenya! Judy Borgquist, Sonora, CA

Absolutely wonderful guides! Knowledgeable, accommodating and fun! Each place we stayed offered unique and wonderful opportunities to experience Africa . All were very comfortable with superior cuisine and customer care. I was prepared to live out of a suitcase and change camps/hotels frequently, and found the trip exciting rather than challenging. As someone with a bad back I particularly appreciated the wonderful beds and use of my inflatable pillow on the safari van seat - it really did the trick on bumpy roads! Even the most amateur of photographers, bird watchers and animal spotters had a richly satisfying bunch of experiences. Friendly people, abundant wildlife, terrific terrain, superior accommodations and guides -who could ask for more!!

This trip was much better than anticipated in every way. Every minute was a new and exciting adventure....so many animals, informative guides, beautiful landscapes, first class accomendations and gourmet food. One must expect dusty and very bumpy rides in order to see the incredible sightings of so many animals in their natural habitat.

Wow what a trip! The accomodations were super, the food was excellent, the people were delightful and the animals were superb! I would recommend this trip to anyone. I will share that you may be exhausted by the time you get home. It was jam packed but well worth it!

This trip I believe has changed my life for the better. I really don't know how to explain the feelings of what I saw, tasted, heard, felt. All my senses where in constant alert, as to not miss anything. Our tour guide was rock solid and made our trip. Thank Rafael for your knowledge and love of your country, made all the difference in the world. Thanks for sharing.
It was GREAT, everyone should take a trip like this.

The guides were very alert and helpful in tracking the animals. We saw many different herds on the plains and a variety of beautiful birds. The accomodations were excellent and the staff very amiable in each stopover. I would recommend this trip to anyone who seeks an experience outside the box. Very satisfying and educational. Thank you.

Wonderful experience and excellent food and people
This was a trip of a lifetime and It exceeded all of our expectations.Excellent lodging and food. Also, wildlife in abundance! It was definitely affordable too. Trip was well organized, The driver James was very informative and safety was his priority. The Tanzania extension is a must, the numbers of animals in the Serengeti were great. I would like to see a longer extension to Tanzania with 2 nights at Ngorongoro Crater and 3 nights in the Serengeti (and maybe omit Tarangire). All in all an excellent trip.....one that I would definitely consider doing again if i can afford.

This was definitely a trip of a lifetime...one we thought we could never afford to do. It exceeded all of our expectations...great lodging, fabulous food, and wildlife in abundance! It was definitely affordable too. Trip was well organized, drivers were very informative, health and safety was a priority. The pace was steady....very little down time, but that was ok as we were there to see as much as we could. We could sleep when we got home! The Tanzania extension is a must, the numbers of animals in the Serengeti were astouding. The pace there was even more demanding. I would like to see a longer extension to Tanzania with 2 nights at Ngorongoro Crater and 3 nights in the Serengeti (and maybe omit Tarangire, but stay a night in Arusha). All in all a fabulous trip.....one that I would definitely consider doing again!

This trip fulfilled a dream I have always had. As a high school biology teacher, I had taught about the great African savannah and its vanishing wildlife. We were close enough to smell, hear, and almost touch the exotic animals of the Serengeti and Masai Mara. Ngorogoro Crater is as close to Eden as it gets. It was almost other-worldly. The biggest surprise was how much we learned about the cultures of this part of the world.
I think the trip should be a Tanzania Safari with Kenya as the add-on. It would be a huge mistake to miss out on Tanzania. Our driver/guides were exceptional. They are the reason GoAhead Tours are outstanding.
The pace is grueling with long days over bumpy, dusty roads, but we were usually greeted with cool, damp cloths and fruit drinks upon arrival at our accomodations which ranged from eco-friendly camps to an ultra-posh lodge.

There was a bit of difficulty with getting needed information as to daily schedules. The roads to the parks made the trip difficult even if the results were wonderful.

One of the best travel experiences I've ever had! Every single person connected with this tour - from the tour director to the guides to the staff at our accommodations was exceptional. I saw more animals than I hoped, heard noises that I never dreamed possible, and smiled more than I thought I would. I was HAPPY every single day! It was strenuous but worth every single bump in the road. Our guides were superb - i learned about the symbiotic relationships of the ecosystem and how important it is for every single piece to be there for all of life. Our guides (Fred in Kenya and John in Tanzania) were amazing with their depth of knowledge and great personalities. And the tour director (Sammy) took care of every detail, I didn't have to worry about anything - excellent food, good pace, travel and exceptional accommodations. It was a grand adventure and I am going to do this again and will bring my friends!

The tour was beautifully organized. Things I would change (realizing you can't please all the people all the time): Skip the Carnivore Restaurant; I don't eat meat and it was difficult to be around all that; having said that, just about every one else seemed to relish in the meat-eating frenzy. Also, for me, I would like to have had more time in Tanzania, expecially the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti. I might trade the Ark experience (although it was very interesting, it couldn't compare) for more time in Tanzania. What I loved: The new year's eve dinner in Nairobi was awesome! What a special treat. I loved our drivers (Sammy and John) who were so knowledgeable, kind, patient, caring, and both were very safe drivers. They had answers to all questions. Above all, I loved observing the animals in their natural habitat!!! Accomodations and food were superb!

I would rate this Kenya/Tanzania safari EXCELLENT except for a few glitches,(which were handled) and the yucky flights. #1 we had 4 to a jeep which is just right in order to stand to take photos, have camera cases & backpacks and sit in comfort. We went from 12/23 to 1/7/12 which was just after the rainy season so all was green. Saw lots of babies and lions (over 40), cheetahs, leopards & millions of wildebeast. Our guides were excellent finding animals and really aimed to please, whatever we said we wanted to see they found and up close too. We could have touched lions & elephants. Tanzania was beautiful & we were so glad we took the extension it was well worth the additional cost. No one checked our yellow fever vac. cards but there were lots of flies and mosquitos. The last day is murder as you drive 8 hours from the crater rim back to Kenya (included is an icky box lunch at a cheapy curio stand with poor toilets) , have 3 hrs to shower @ the hotel before having to be at the airport 4 hrs early. Nairobi Airport is not a place you like to spend time. Then the long flights home. I don't see any way around this except that the tour company could make the last day better if they chose a proper place for us to lunch and break up the day with some place of interest. It almost seemed as if they were done with us and just wanted to get us to the airport as fast as possible. Roads are rough and extremely bumpy. It is amazing how exhausted you become riding, looking at animals. The food is average but something for everyone to eat, there was an adequate selection. The animals in their natural habitat was an awesome sight, a feast for the eyes. We took our adult children (25 &22) and had a wonderful time. I would go again!

Vintage Africa had changed the itineary. We didn't find out the changes until we arrived at Niarobi. We were supposed to stay at Serena Mountain Lodge at Mt. Kenya, they changed to The Ark at Aberdare which is at least 2 classes below. Cheap MOVE!
This trip had so many highlights. I never thought crossing the equator was so educational. The animals were at their best. All accomadations were different and interesting. I got a real flavor of Kenya and its people. Our driver was knowledgable about many things as well as being proud to be a Kenyan.

This truly was the trip of a lifetime! We saw so many animals, it was wonderful. We never got over the excitement of seeing the next elephant or lion! Our guides were informative and very competent drivers (a real necessity after the rain!) What made the trip challenging is the amount of travel by land. We spent so many hours getting to our destinations that it became exhausting.

i loved seeing the animals, the guides, food and accomodations were good. there was no down time to relax and enjoy the hotels. there should have been some flights as the time spent in the van traveling was too much
the tanzania extension was the best part. the serengeti was totally wild, i saw at least 100 thousand wildebeast migrating. about 30 lions. more animals than i can put on a report. the hotels were clean and secure. no TV in most hotels, and hot water was only on at certain specified times. - when most needed.
