We all share a unique bond with this truly amazing region whether you are Christian, Muslim or Jewish and nobody embodies that fact better then our Tour Director, Miky Horesh. Of course we all have some reservations or fear about traveling to Israel & Palestine because of the historical conflicts but I have never felt safer in the Middle East and I have traveled to Abu Dabai, Bahrain, Dubai, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait and Turkey.
I have to give all the credit to the exceptional staff at Go Ahead Travel and the utmost respect to Miky Horesh.
As our Tour Director he had an overwhelming knowledge of historical, religious and physical aspects of all the sites but it is the way he presented the information with humor and a logical thread that brought the whole experience into focus.
I had so many epiphanies during this trip because I could finally understand the relationship these areas had in history.
He was inclusive to the whole group and respectful of each individuals needs. He had to deal with some abrasive personalities in our group but he handled confrontation with patience, understanding and class.
What is really important when you travel is to have a Tour Director that is not only knowledgeable but also respected in the area.
Together, our driver (Wael) and our Tour Director (Miky) rearranged our itinerary on the fly to avoid traffic or tourist congestion at the sites.
This allowed us to maximize our trip to include several stops that where not even included in the itinerary and also we gained access to sites that other tour groups did not have. This is because of Miky's unique personality and relationship with Gov. Officials, local police and Religious Leaders.
It was funny, whenever other groups were being told they were not allowed in, the person in charge would see Miky and cheerfully embrace him and welcome our group inside.
This happened everywhere, whether in the Muslim Quarter, the Jewish Centers or the Christian Churches, it was nothing but the utmost of love and respect.
I wish for you all reading this to have the same experience.
One of the many highlights of my experience was to baptize myself in the River Jordan, this was not expected or scheduled on the itinerary but truly treasured.
Also, an amazing emotional moment with women of all religions at the Wailing Wall, a spectacular presentation of Jerusalem at Night against King David's Tower, a camel ride through the desert to enjoy the hospitality of dinner in a Bedouin Tent and simply to walk in the footsteps of Jesus.
The most soulful moment had to be at the church on the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount and what made it so special is that our Jewish Tour Director actually pulled out a Bible and gave it to our group to read out load.
Our group was of mixed religions but everyone seemed to enjoy and contemplate deeply on these inspiring words.
The hotels were first rate, the food was phenomenal and the farewell dinner was tearful and difficult to say goodbye!
Thank you Go Ahead Travel for creating this wondering trip and hiring a great staff from Marisa Cohen the reservationist (who really sold me on this tour that I had no intention of going and got me in at the last moment), to Wael our pure gentlemen driver (who was very generous with the desserts) and most of all Miky for bringing the Holyland to life!
For lasting peace in the Middle East it is the responsibility of all humanity to travel and experience this land. We all have a stake in the future of this treasure. Please travel, learn, accept, and love your brother.
God bless you all and safe journeys home!

Trip of a Lifetime

I was a little concerned about this trip (March 2011) because of the events of the Middle East, but my worries were totally unnecessary. The news media (inadvertently, perhaps) offers up the most negative events of the region, and there were absolutely no issues on this tour whatsoever. Our Tour Director, Miky Horesh, was the ultimate professional who effortlessly & successfully lead 30 eager individuals throughout his beautiful, amazing Israel. We were so fortunate to have him as our TD: his expertise and time management maximized our opportunities to see everything on the itinerary and a couple of surprises (such as the animals living in a National Park who were indigenous to that area). If you are thinking it's strictly a spirtual tour, go beyond that thought process and think of it in terms of a historical adventure, too. I absolutely, and without hestitation, give this "Wonders of Ancient Israel" Tour 5 stars across the board and kudos for their fantastic Tour Director, Miky. This was amazing, magnificent trip of a lifetime. Thank you, GAT & Miky Horesh. (And, I'm sharing my favorite photo that I took on this trip) ... Word of caution: IT IS A LEVEL 4 CHALLENGING TOUR.

Egypt, Jordan & Israel

All of the best of Egypt - from crusing the Nile to walking amongst the Great Pyramids and wandering in the Valley of the Kings. Jordan was quiet until we found Petra which is the crown jewel in my humble opinion. Israel was green and lush and quite the finale for a month long journey. I love how Go Ahead combined these tours for us, letting us linger at the Sinai and enjoy the sights there until we could pick up the Israel leg, a much needed rest indeed! The trip of a lifetime, I will forever enjoy my journey and memories.

It was a faith-filled experience...a trip of a lifetime! Walking through the places where Jesus was born, raised, evangelized and died for the salvation of all was a very touching trip for all of us. It was worth the sacrifice we ever did for a good cause.....to feel and be in the presence of God in this tour. We want to go back!
The place is safe, the people are warm and we felt at home despite the great distance we traveled. The hotels are clean, foods are great and the weather is fantastic....everyday was cool with bright sunshine all day! Thanks, Go Ahead!

Overall, this tour was very enriching. The places we saw and the people we met were interesting and friendly (for the most part). The pace was needlessly challenging and compacted because of travel schedule changes but because of our tour guide (Miki) and driver (Kamal) the tour was very much a fun and educational time. The highlights - there were so many of them. Masada was spectacular, the Dead Sea quite enjoyable, Capernaum, Bethlahem, and the Mount of Olives fascinating. The churches brought my faith to the emotional forefront at times.
Since our tour group had quite a few older people (70's and 80's!) I thought it might be too difficult for them at times. I need not have worried. Our tour guide guided those with a slower gait than the rest of us with grace and style.
The first hotel (Dan Panorama) we stayed at was not ready for us and the person in charge was not friendly in the least toward us. We had to wait several hours before we could get to our room after traveling half-way round the world. None of the people I spoke with were happy about the wait or the condition of the rooms. The other hotels were great. Great attitude from the staff, clean and well-cared for rooms, and the food. Oh, my - the food! Delicious!

The Wonders of Ancient Israle

Definitely for the history buffs with a religious undertone. Seeing the archealogical sites are only overshadowed by "walking in the footsteps of Christ". Of note, the religious sites will always be crowded so bring your patience along with your reverence.

Great Tour

I had a great time on this tour. I saw everything that I wanted to see in Israel and Jordan. Our tour guide in Israel, Micky, was very knowledgeable and seem to know everyone everywhere. Our bus driver Kamall was also a very welcome and fun addition to the tour. Most hotels were centrally located and very nice; the one in Jerusalem was not centrally located, however, and when we had free time, it was a pain to get back to the hotel. I would recommend a different place in Jerusalem. I especially enjoyed staying at the Lavi Kibbutz - a fun and unique experience. I would also recommend adding another day in Tel Aviv, as I really don't feel I got to spend any time there.
The best thing about the Jordan extension was, of course, the day at Petra, which really is something every traveler should see at some point. Jerash and the castles were also wonderful. I do think, however, that the extension could be shortened one day. Our last day seeing castles and Amman was almost too much. Adding an extra day in Israel and taking away one day in Jordan would be my suggestion. Our tour guide in Jordan, Hmazeh, was also very knowledgeable, but would it be too much to ask to get a straight answer from him? Everything was a joke or an exaggeration, and I do think some people were confused as to what we really were supposed to do, where we were to meet, what time, etc.
As far as the food goes: I'm a picky eater and careful what I eat when I travel. I can't complain about the food too much on this trip. There will always be chicken! In Jordan, however, it seemed the "suggestions" from our tour director were actually pre-planned with people he knew, and it didn't always end with people being happy with the "choices" we were given.
One last note: please, please realize that this is a demanding tour. I'm in decent shape and able to walk all day long without any problem. But the tour is demanding; lots of cobblestones, steps, and every day starts out relatively early. If you are not able to do this, please try another trip. You'll only get frustrated and behind, which will cause frustration within the group. If you want to see everything in Israel and Jordan in one trip, expect to move at a fast pace to get it all in.

A Great Trip

Initially I was worried about the safety of travelling in Israel , with the knowleagble tour guides and skilful drivers, both in Israel and Jordan, this trip told me otherwise. We visited many Biblical sites, learned many historical things and saw many wonderful ancient structures, especially in Petra. We got to taste the local food and float in the Dead Sea. However, this was a physically demanding tour involving lots of walking on uneven pebble pavements, steps, uphills and downhills. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the trip to the utmost and I would recommend this trip to anyone who loves to travel.

Never Again

I recently returned from the 10-day Israel tour which was just this year cut back from 11 days. My first Go Ahead tour will be my last. If you're looking for a cheap, cut-rate, bargain basement experience then go with Go Ahead. If you're looking for decent hotels, meals and optional excursions look elsewhere. Hotels they claim are centrally located are anything but. Lunch @ the Leonardo Hotel @ the Dead Sea was inedible. Overall, an experience I wish never to repeat.

Great value

This 10 day tour is actually only 8 days. Days 1 and 10 are spent traveling to and from Israel.
The hotels were high end with many meals included.
GoAhead packed a lot of touring into those 8 days. Be prepared to get up early to cover it all.
It would have been nice if Masada and the Dead Sea experience were included in the basic package, not an added expensive add on.

Spiritual, Educational and Fun!

This was the trip of a lifetime! Hannah was an excellent tour guide. She made sure that we had the history from all perspectives and did an excellent job of presenting the Jewish and Christian aspects. I also have to applaud our bus driver Mohammed, who was able to safely transport us throughout the hills and mountains of Israel. The tour is fast paced, we were up and on the bus between 7:30 and 8:00 am each day. Our guide added some flexibility to the schedule to accommodate weather and the Sabbath. I don't think we missed anything.
I can't explain the feelings I had, standing at the Sea of Galilee or in the Garden of Gethsemane. We began to say that we did not have "goosebumps", we had "God-bumps"
We learned that if you travel in November, you need to be prepared for cool weather and rain - pack jacket, scarf, comfortable shoes, poncho and umbrella.
I saw no need to be concerned about safety. The checkpoints are present, but certainly not intrusive. The people are welcoming. I returned home closer to my spiritual self and with a much better understanding of the history and geography of Israel.

Israel

Overall a great trip. Well planned and organized. I'd recommend less time at the Dead Sea (1 hr less) and more time at the Camel rides/evening dinner; otherwise, well thought out.

A Perfect Tour at Christmastime

What a wonderful tour - the weather was perfect, we started with the cities and historical sites on the Mediterranean Sea, then all around northern Israel and the West Bank, down to Galilee, Jericho, and the Dead Sea. Finally to Jerusalem, the most perfect place to end the tour. The mixture of religions and customs was fascinating and awe-inspiring. Don't miss this one!

The Wonders of Ancient Israel

My trip to Israel was beyond words. The country is beautiful; I felt totally safe; people very friendly. I learned SO much from our outstanding tour director, Miky Horesh. He was quite knowledgeable and made the learning fun. It was very challenging insofar as the walking - lots of steps, walking on stones, down paths, etc. Sometimes we felt a bit rushed, but I realize that we had to see a great deal of sites in a limited amount of time. Miky knew all the ins and outs - where to shop, where to eat, when the traffic would be lighter, etc. He is truly a credit to his profession. I also cannot say enough about our bus driver, Kaml. He drove that bus all around the mountain sides with ease. Both were also very helpful in offering assistance on and off the bus, with the stairs, etc. Our fellow travelers were all wonderful too - everyone got along great. This was my second trip with Go Ahead, and once again, I was totally satisfied with the service that was provided. I will continue to recommend Go Ahead to my family and friends. Thank you for a wonderful experience that I will never forget.

This is a fast paced tour, ready to board the bus at 7:30 each morning. There is so much to see and do. The tour guide was wonderful adjusting the schedule since the weather didn't cooperate one day for outdoor sight seeing. The guide was very well informed on history, the Bible and culture and she shared as much as she could with us. We have already recommended this tour to friends!

Tour was as stated with good iteneray flexibility to accomodate weather and Shabbat times (Friday's in Jerusalem). Tour operator's very friendly and strong on historical both past and present regarding areas of interest. Alot of walking and stairs, bring good comfortable shoes, pack an umbrella if November/December travel, and plenty of batteries and film or SD cards for digital cameras. Petra/Masada/Jerusalem/Sea of Tiberias was absolutely wonderful in person. Israeli shekel exchange fair at this time, Jordanean dinars are equivelant to the euro (ouch). Be prepared to cover costs of beverages in Jordan even if meal is provided. No issues with Palestinean border crossings, people (Israeli/Arab) friendly. Definately a bucket list and trip of a lifetime.

Trip of a Lifetime

This was a trip of a lifetime for me. A trip I will never forget. I was very impressed with Go Ahead Tours. The web site was full of information, as well as customer service. They made planning the trip so much easier. We had a very informative tour guide and very helpful bus driver. Any future trips like this will definitely be booked with Go Ahead Tours.

Greatest Trip Of My Life

Our tour was more than I ever expected. This was my first trip overseas, so
I was very apprehensive about the whole experience. Once we landed in
Tel Aviv, my fears vanished and we had a wonderful time. This tour was filled from morning till night with sight seeing , history, and a wealth of information.
Loved the whole trip and would recommend this trip to anyone who is interested in Biblical History and prior era times. It was Great. Thank You
