A Post Card Visit to Galway, Cork, and Dublin

Our trip was all about beautiful vistas and the generosity of the Irish people.
We learned about the history, cuture, and architecture through informative visits to various locations.
One of the scheduled excursions was cancelled and our tour guide was quick to find another adventure that everyone could enjoy.
When my father became ill, the guide and the driver were caring and kind and found a local doctor to see to his needs.
This was our first trip with Go Ahead but certainly not our last.

Best St. Patrick's Day Ever

We have been on the Grand Tour of Ireland, so we have been to most of the places that we visited before, but my daughter and I just love Ireland..the landscapes, the people and the history. Even though we have been there before, having a different tour director adds a different view of the places that you are visiting. All the hotels are always very nice w/ a good breakfast buffet. The tour director had all the information we needed whether we were shopping for something special, looking for some place good to eat, exchanging money or questions about historical places we were visiting. I always felt safe no matter where we went or stayed. The St. Patrick's Day parade in Dublin was very exciting.

Awesome experience!

This was the perfect time to visit Ireland. The countryside is beautiful, the people are friendly and the sites are worth the trip. We were pleased with the balance of scheduled and free time allowing for both exploring the cities as well as visiting remarkable sites. The accommodations and in country travel were comfortable and the tour director was both knowledgeable and entertaining. Our only reservation was the flights to and from. We might consider making our own flight arrangements in the future. Otherwise Go Ahead Tours did a fantastic job!

St. Patrick's Day a FUN time to be in Ireland.

Weather you are a young adult or an older one, this trip during St. Paddie's Day is a great time to go! The parade was fun, but crowded. Pubs being smoke free makes it ok for families to enjoy local music. Cliffs of M. were beautiful, but a small inclined walk. Good mix of bus time and wander on your own time. Hotels were great. Breakfast was good. I feel the trip was a good value. I was extremely disappointed in the seat placement for the many different legs of our flight. I feel we were afterthoughts. (We booked this trip over a year in advance). I was never next to my husband nor any of my friends. We all had middle of the plane seats on the 11 hour flight back to the US.

Good trip!

Tour director Tom Quinn and driver Tommy Sheehan were both great.
Tom were very knowledgeable and Tommy was very skilled .
Then only thing I would try to change would be to skip Cork and go straight to Dublin.

Wonderful Experience

The stay in Galway was very exciting from a historical perspective. The pubs provided excellent musical entertainment, and the scenery was beautiful. The Blarney Woolen Mill provided an excellent opportunity to purchase Irish made products, and the restaurant was great. The grounds of Blarney Castle and the Manor House were very beautiful. The village of Adair provided a step back in time with lovely thatched roof cottages and historic structures. Lunch at the local pub was very good. The Burren reminded me of the Dolly Sods area of West Virginia, and the Cliffs of Moher were breathtaking. Cork was a bust due to bad accommodations, and the only thing we did was spend 45 minutes at the English Market. Dublin was also a great experience. For St. Patrick's Day the downtown was all lit up in green, and the church bells rang for two days. Tours of St. Patrick's Cathedral and Book of Kells were very educational.

My husband and I were not sure what to expect since this was our first Go Ahead tour but we were completely impressed! We loved our tour guide, Tom! He was able share with us so much more about Ireland than we ever would have learned on our own. He told us stories and played Irish music and gave us tips about local places. We loved being in Dublin for St. Patrick's Day. It was crazy fun! If you are going to take the Ireland tour you need to go for St. Patrick's Day.

Terrific tour!

A Week in Ireland: Galway, Cork & Dublin is the perfect tour for the moderately active traveler. Go Ahead Tours did an excellent job of putting together the perfect itinerary that resulted in the ultimate Irish vacation.

A Week in Ireland

I enjoyed our tour director, who was nicely soft-spoken and smart, and our reliable bus driver. Overall, I also enjoyed what we saw and where we went. The Galway hotel was centrally located, which was nice. Cork didn't seem like a great addition, but Blarney Castle was something to see, and the hotel there also fine (with good food available). I think the hotel in Dublin should be changed: having a hotel "on the wrong side" of the river meant having to walk a way to where one would want to walk, and the area didn't seem very safe. I'd also suggest, if I may, cutting the Irish night of song and dance, etc. Most everything else on the trip felt higher toned to me than this very schmaltzy and expensive dinner theater.

3 STAR HOTELS

In Galway the Imperial Hotel was a disappointment. Our room was small
dingy and unventilated. Breakfast was minimal and certainly different.
In Cork the Blarney Woollen Mills was an excellent 3 star accomodation.
In Dublin the Maldron Smithfield was also a disappointment. Our original room was filthy. Management was prompt to change our room, but there was"nt much improvement..

This was a very short trip but a good introduction to Ireland. We went through a lot of it very Quickly. Our tour guide, Sean, was wonderful and worked very hard to make the trip as memorable as possible. Now I want to go back and see more of Ireland at a more leisurely pace. There were a couple of highlights that Sean created such as the carriage ride in Killarney and the ferry across the shannon river. I loved the few days in Dublin that were entirely on our own. It was a great combo of guided tour and on our own time.

A Week in Ireland

I fell in love with Ireland on this tour. Starting with our tour guide, Sean McKeown greeting us at the airport, to our farewell dinner on Friday night, we were busy, yet had free time to shop and explore. Sean was a wealth of information and told a great story. Our group was timely, funny and overall just plain fun to be with. Our bus driver, Cieran, was also excellent. We applauded his skill more than once travelling through narrow streets and roads. Ireland is a beautiful country. The natural wonders are so diverse yet always breathtaking. Sean arranged for two additional excursions so I saw more of Ireland that originally planned. I will definitely travel with GoAhead Tours again.
