Of all my world travels I still use the words "most enchanting" to describe my China and the Yangtzee River tour. Imagine five internal flights and a Yangtzee River cruise! Imagine visiting historic sites such as Tianamen Square, the Xian warriors, and the Great Wall; cultural events such as opera and gymnastics; rice paddies, tea plantations, silk factories --and ancient and beautiful temples throughout the country! Chinese people are so beautiful and gracious too. Everyday at home I see reminders of my enchanting time in China--The SHOPPING is the greatest! Would I go again? Without any doubt--YES!!!

Imperial China and the Yangtze River Cruise was the most complete tour of China we found. From the historic sites we visited, the hotels we stayed at and the city or tour guides Go Ahead delivered a Five Star experience! This was our 4th trip with Go Ahead. It will not be our last!

You really owe it to yourself to take this tour. China is so rich in history and culture and natural beauty. The people are very friendly and we felt safe. Our guide, Dai Wei was amazing. Always on the ball. Happy travels!

Imperial China

I really enjoyed the trip and it included many of the high spots in the limited time available. The core and optional tours provived the opportunity to see and experience the many interesting and historical sites and kept us on the go which I enjoyed. The hotels were all modern and upscale with good breakfasts included, but rated the included lunches and dinners as only fair.I also would have preferred exchanging some of the shoping opportunities with more siteseeing.
Some of the scheduled tours got rearranged for scheduling purposes, which was good.
Extended Honk Kong- Hong Kong by Night was cancelled due to insufficient signups and New Lantau Island Tour had to delete the cable car ride to to weather conditions. We tere told wee would be reinbursed for canceled options, but no notification since return from trip.
I would have liked a Macau trip option.

Do your medical homework first

The Imperial China and Yangtze River tour was excellent. However there is one major factor to consider before you make this trip. Many major Chinese cities have major problems with pollution. There were forty-one people on our tour, a large but great group of new friends. Within a day or two most were beginning to cough. When we reached Shanghai, one lady was placed in a hospital because of a severe cold and high temperature. Of my group of family and friends, six suffered colds severe enough to see a doctor as soon as we returned home. Three of us were suffering from bronchitis. Upon returning home, I did some checking and learned the World Health Organization claims 650-thousand people die each year from pollution causes in China. So...if you have any kind of a breathing problem see your doctor before taking this trip. Taking a good supply of cough and cold medicines could also be a good idea.

This was a great adventure with good value for the money spent. The pace was blistering which means we got to see plenty. The tour guides were terrific & the timing & coordination of moving 41 people around for 18 days was extraordinary. The hotels were first rate with the excetion of Hong Kong which was just O K.. The food was plentiful & mostly very good. The excursions with the exception of Suzhou were great.I would include the pedicab ride & Bejings' Hutong excursion as part of the tour & remove some of the shopping.

Amazing 2-week China Tour

Great value, very organized. My wife and I were impressed by timely & thoughtful responses and personal care. Additionally, GoAhead obtained the services of Jonathan, the best guide a tour group could have. He is a wonderful, intelligent, mild-mannered person who took care of everything (which for 41 people was a lot!) and was a friend to us all.

China, Yangtze + Optional

Overall the tour was excellent. It was like having 3-4 vacations in one because the areas visited were so different. We would have liked more time on our own--to investigate things at our own pace. The Suzhou optional tour was really a waste. I would not suggest it to anyone. We would have had a much better time on our own in Shanghai.

China Tour

An excellent & most memorable tour experience. As the tour director, Michael Du, stated, "You will have the genuine China experience". From Beijing, the Great Wall, the Yangtze River Cruise and the Three Gorges, Chongqing (the largest city in China), Xi'an and the Terracota Warriers (What a site to behold, Just takes your breath away.), Shanghai (a very European city) and to Hong Kong. Each city has a distinct personality of its own and great shopping in each. Especially shopping for Jade, Silk and Vases.

great trip

Well organized trip. Our tour guide was terrific. He handled everything with grace, patience. and humour. The sights were incredible and we, for the most part, had enough time for each. We were busy almost every minute. Some of the group would have preferred more free time but there was a lot to see and do and rest is for after the trip.

Imperial China

very interesting trip. China is a fascinating country and I hadn't realized the scope of it until visiting it myself. We visited all the 'must see' places, and had a wonderful tour director. The days, however, were long and exhausting. We were constantly on the go, and didn't generally return to the hotel until after supper.
The cruise on the Yangtzee was lovely and we saw and heard about very interesting and beautiful things. The negatives about flooding the Yangtzee, however, were downplayed (eg the displacement of people and farmland and the inadequate compensation received. The whole thing about the Tian'anmenSquare 'incident' was also downplayed and few, if any questions about it were answered.
Beijing traffic was horrific. Although they have traffic signals and laws, it appears that people don't pay any attention to them. It was dangerous to try to cross any street (een on a green light) and busses, cars, bikes and pedestrians seemed to feel they could go whereever they felt like, whenever they felt like doing it. I was on the verge of heart attacks on a regular basis when sitting in the safety of the bus!!!
All in all, an amazing experience which I am delighted to have had.

Fantastic Trip!!!!

This was our 6th Go Ahead Tour, and it ranks right at the top of the list. The success of this tour was due to Tour Director Andy Zhw, who was the BEST and HARDEST WORKING Tour Director we have had in 6 GA Tours!!! BIG thanks to Andy!!! The cities and sights are fantastic; I would encourage anyone who is considering this tour to take it, and if you are lucky you will get Andy!!! Many places take American money, so it's a good idea to take some US cash. Highlights would be the Great Wall and the Terracotta Soldiers, but the entire trip was an amazing journey. This is the best overall review that I have given out of the 6 GA Tours we have taken. Thanks again Andy--you made this trip an unforgettable lifetime experience!!!

Imperial China& the Yangtze River

I experienced a wide variety of of memorable moments. We had a knowledgeble Tour Director who took care of all the details. He was highly professional made it possible for us to see all the tour highlights offered in the brochure. It was lots of sight seeing and walking which I enjoyed. The Local Historians and Guides provided first -hand knowledge of each city that we toured. They shared a wealth of information with us and they were eager to answer questions. I learned a lot ! There was lots food and it was excellent. All in all, I think I hit the "Jack Pot" The trip was great ! I am looking forward to my next tour.

China and Yangtze River

China is a very interesting country to visit. I enjoyed seeing the Terra Cotta Warriors and the Great Wall. The panda bear was adorable.
You should be prepared for most days being 12 hours or longer. Some food is good and some is really not good. We didn't find the walking to be too bad, except the Great Wall, but you don't have to climb all the way up it.
There could be a couple less government stores and that would shorten the extremely long days. Overall it was a good experience and we would recommend it to others.

trip of a lifetime

This is an execellent trip that I would recommend to anyone.
Only negative is that we were brought to too many "shopping" areas and would have like more time at museums and sports venues.
