If you've never been to Europe, Ireland is the place to start. Beautiful country, with friendly people. Steep in tradition, with a love of God and Country.

Very Good Trip

We saw a lot of interesting places and our tour director was great.
I would like to have visited an art museum to see some Irish artists' work.

It was an O.K. trip

First off we have decided to only take trips that leave from Detroit and return to Detroit non-stop flights. The layover in Newark is to long and very tiring. We enjoyed most of the trip but when we went to the Aran Islands we got to see the clifftop fort but then were loaded up and taken back to the town for shopping, their must have been something more to see!!!! when we got back to town we had 2 1/2 hours to kill and most of us ended up in a restaurant. Loved the Castles, The Rock of Cashel, Glendalough, enjoyed the Banquet at Dunguaire Castle, and the country side and people were wonderful. All and All we enjoyed the trip but are last trip was to Egypt and we enjoyed that much more.

Some changes needed

We enjoyed the guide Alibe very much. The hotels at the Maldron Dublin was a bit low class but we managed. However, the Maldron at the end was nothing short of a disgrace. I would not go on this tour again if the Maldrons were the choices. Every hotel in between was fine. I did miss not getting to the Dingle and would have loved to have seen Muckross, but do understand you can't see it all. Also, would have two nights in Cork, perhaps cut Dublin down to two nights. All in all we had a nice time and would recommend this tour if the Maldrons were not involved...Our guide was more of a college professor with the knowledge that he has. Very interesting man.

Ireland in Oct. 2011

Our tour guide made the tour great. He didn't panic. He gave us helpful information. He did not lie about the weather so we were able to plan against possible 60 degrees. He related his growing up in Ireland.

We had a mix of very good weather and some drizzle with moderate to warm temps for this time of year. The tour guide was very good and explained many historical, cultural and political elements. The hotels were OK but were not totally climate controlled so I would not rate them three star. The rooms ran hot so opening windows to street noise was the only option for cooling. The included meals were adequate but breakfasts were limited with repetitive menu content. Tour guide did not participate at some of the included dinners, where the guide was present in three previous GoAhead tours I have taken.

Enchanting Ireland

Enchanting Ireland included the very best of sights and a superior combination of culture, history, great food, local sights, traditional music and fun to suit any age or gender. Our group included ages mid-20s to 70-plus and everyone seemed to have a fabulous time. I would recommend this trip for just about anyone.

An okay trip

We both enjoyed the tour and Albee was very insightful and knowledgeable.
However, I would not stay at a Maldron Hotel again, especially the last night, it was a huge disappointment and very well could have ruined the trip for 1st time travellers. I would also do only two nights in Dublin, enough, and add a night in either Killarny or Galway. The banquet night is a good idea, but beginning at 8:45p is a bit much for most people our age. (64-70). Also, it was an oversight of the company to not let anyone know that they do not take $100.00 bills in Ireland. It was again, a bit of a problem. We do have two more trips to plan, Italy and Quebec. I have been to both and will check out the hotels carefully if we look at a Go Ahead Tour. All in all it was a nice trip, but, it would have been much better with a better class of Hotel. I believe the money we paid should have paid for the beginning and end accommodations to be a step up.....In spite of these problems we had a nice time. I do not expect you to print this review, but I would like someone in the agency to take a look at this review. Thank you

Great!

We enjoyed the extra trips we signed up for. They were an unexpected joy! We saw things that we probably wouldn't have seen on our own or even new about. It takes a lot of research on your own to come up with a tour like this. So we were thankful that they had done the leg work and we had such a lovely motor coach to ride in.

Great Tour Experience

A wonderful experince. Tour guide and bus driver were professional and also very pleasant and engaging personalities. Tour schedule was very flexible with plenty of opportunities for personal time. Details of travel , hotel rooms, tickets, etc. efficient and effective. The pace of travel was relaxed and stress free. Just a very well organized and executed tour. A real delight.

Truly enchanted with Ireland

I had been told Ireland was green and beautiful but I was not prepared for the awe inspiring beauty of the landscapes. The people were warm, welcoming, fun, and proud to show off their country. The tour director made the time fun and informative and was readily available with ideas for free time and to answer questions. Will definitely return for more of the magic

Ireland was a magical place.

This tour is truely enchanting. The Irish people are so lively & masterful storytellers. We loved our tour director, Tom Quinn. He was very entertaining with all his stories, music & commentary. We really enjoyed him. I thought the tour was well planned out, although the weather was not always co-operative, but that's to be expected in Ireland. I would highly recommend this tour & ask for Tom.

Awesome Tour!

This tour was everything I expected, and then some! Our tour director, Tom Quinn, knew so much history and little tid bits of information, had an excellent sense of humor and really kept us on track for our sites. Our group of 40 was great and we all got along pretty well! It was interesting to meet people from other areas of the US and compare notes, share information and cheer each other on when things got challenging (climbing the steps up to the Blarney Stone)! I would highly recommend everyone to take this tour, and see Ireland. BEAUTIFUL!

Enchanting Ireland

We thoroughly enjoyed Ireland once we got there. Delta is a horrible airline and JFK is a horrible airport. I will never again book a tour with your company if it is through Delta. They are the worst airline I have ever flown. The staff on the airplane were great, however, the personnel in the airport were the worst I have ever experienced. You get an F for airline flight, but an A+ on everything else.

Emerald Isle

Very complete tour of Ireland for the time involved. More rural than other tours we've taken. We're city people, so would have liked another day in Dublin, though we could have not taken the Powerscourt/Glendalough alternative, though we enjoyed it and would recommend it. That would have given us time for the National Gallery, Writers' Museum, and the Modern Art Museum. Eat in Temple Bar.
National Stud Farm not too exciting although Rock of Cashel was impressive and interesting.
Blarney Castle grounds were interesting, and Cobh shouldn't be missed for its historical value.
Rained @ Ring of Kerry, which obviously couldn't be helped.
Accommodations generally good, but Travel Inn Killarney bland and very badly located. ($50 cab ride into and back from town and very bad food at the Travel Inn, necessitating the trip.)
Galway is a great town, very lively with good restaurants and a student town with music everywhere.
Aran Islands a must. Interesting trip through the West with very different topography from the East. For us, the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher were just another long day in the bus. Pretty, but not so different from other coastal regions in the world.
Try to get a nonstop flight. Go Ahead routed us from Boston, which has direct flights to Dublin, past Dublin, to London and then back thereby converting a five hour flight to a ten hour slog.
All in all, a very enjoyable trip

I cannot commend Tom Quinn enough as our Ireland tour director. His humor and knowledge of all things Irish made the trip worth every penny. Thanks again Tom!

A very eduational tour

Our guide was a very excellent person in that he gave us much history of Ireland and with his growing up and some of his experience as a youth. He was very much into the people who shaped Ireland. I would love to do another tour with Mr. Quinn if he does other countries. Maybe another one in Ireland. Everyone involved with helping my daughter and I with our plans were great and yes we both will travel again with GoAhead Tours.
