I can see why this tour is named Jewels of the Alps. From the breathtaking scenery and wonderful weather, this trip was nothing less than fantastic. The pace was great with lots of free time to explore. The food and hotel accomodations were well above my expectations. Our tour guide was very accomodating and well informed. From day 1 to day 13, I would not change one thing about the trip. I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to experience Europe at its best...not the big cities, but the quaint countryside and the gorgeous Alps.

This tour took in beautiful, quaint, historic sites at a perfect pace. The mountain excursions were exquisite and a must for an "Alps" trip. Our guide was wonderful - always helpful and very informative. We will definitely take other trips through Go Ahead!

Jewels of Alpine Europe lives up to its title in that you will be exposed to breathtaking views. There will be something for everyone - there are lovely small town and minor cities. The tour guide was one of the most responsive ,well informed and eager to please. I particularly enjoyed the final stops: Innsbruck, Austria and Munich, Germany. I am someone who enjoys cities and culture more than nature, but I actually chose these destinations because I didn't want to encounter any turmoil on my trip , and these seemed safe locations-as they proved to be.

Lucerne, Switzerland is a beautiful lakeside city surrounded by mountains. I'm certain we saw more mountains (some snow-covered) than most Swiss people see in a lifetime. All of Switzerland is more beautiful than you could ever imagine and very clean; nothing to spoil the scenery. Bern (capital) is charming with an old main street with an area complete with bears and Geneva is a big city -- the center for int'l affairs. Annecy, France is lovely, on a lake with cobblestone streets and canals; also traveled through Chamonix before reaching Lake Como region of Italy. Lake Como has to be one of the most beautiful areas we have ever seen. Next St. Moritz, cute village, need to access by escalator and then walk uphill, lots of upscale stores. Liechtenstein, a tiny principality, is small and interesting. Innsbruck, Austria was a complete surprise because it was so picturesque and it quickly became one of our favorite stops; we both fell in love with it. Munich, Germany is big and sprawling. Although we only had a day there, we managed to get a lot in. Great trip, fabulous weather, and probably the nicest, most cohesive group of fellow travelers we've ever been with. Our guide, Juergen, was was tops! . He talked seamlessly between German, French, Italian, and English and also spoke Hungarian. Amazing!

This tour was a great experience! The magnificant views of the alpine country were breathtaking. All of the cities were charming. Our tour director was very personable and a great source of information. He went far beyond what was expected of him.

The drives up, over, and through the Alps were incredibled. The views, opportunities for quick stops and walks, longer trips on two of the mountains, all met expectations. I loved Annecy, France--varied opportunities to do things other than shop. The accommodations were all acceptable although the heat in Lucerne made it difficult to sleep with no A/C or breeze. Breakfasts were all good; the planned meals went from okay, to fair, to two poor. Plus we were often in tight, hot spaces. The Swiss folk dinner and show was a disappointment - poor food, way too long, hard to see.. If the quality of the food for planned dinners cannot be improved, I would recommend charging less and letting folks find their own. I realize that dilutes the opportunities to build friendships, but it might be worth the swap. Most of the guided tours were good, although "whispers" are needed for all of them in order to hear. The extra "Dachau Tour" the last day in Munich was very interesting and will remain a painful but strong memory--glad we had that opportunity.

If you've ever wanted to stand on the top of mountains, and alpine passes at the heart of the Alps, I would highly recommend this tour. From Lucerne to Innsbruck we all enjoyed amazing views and a wonderful itinerary.

Loved the tour. Our third Go Ahead Tour and loved every single one. I liked our tour guide, he was informative and funny. I only wished he used the whispers more often as sometimes I could not hear what he was saying. Other than that I have no complaints. And, yes, we will schedule another Go Ahead tour in the future.

The tour for us was completely satisfying. All detail was handled by our tour planners prior to the tour and tour guide during the tour. All we had to do was show up on time and be receptive to everything we were hearing and seeing. Great tour.

A trip to the Alps in July is just the thing for a year long resident of Florida. It was great fun to take a gondola ride to the top of a 10,000 foot mountain and throw snowballs at each other as well as travel through the actual inside of a glacier, all in July. The beauty of Switzerland and the mountains and glaciers will long be remembered. Lake Como and Bellagio in Italy were also gorgeous and charming parts of the journey.
This was my first tour with Go Ahead, but definately not my last. As a solo traveler, I was not sure what to expect, but after arriving in Zurich and meeting my Tour Director (Jurgen is THE BEST), I fell right into what has easily become the best birthday gift I have ever given myself. It was more active than I had anticipated (didn't expect 7am wakeup calls), but I wouldn't change a thing - except check-in time. (I had an overnight flight, arrived in the morning around 9a, but check-in was not until 2p)
You have your structured goup/touring time and then you have free time. Each town was quaint and had something unique to offer - except St. Moritz, which was more like Madison Avenue on steroids. The views of and from the mountains were really something to see. Couple that with the fresh, brisk air and you may not want to leave. Lake Como & Bellagio were by far the friendliest and most laid back.
Group dinners were better for getting to know your fellow travelers than for the food itself - kinda like the day after Thanksgiving over and over again. For truly authentic and good food, you had to get that on your own, and for a couple of euro you can eat pretty well.
The accomodations were clean and comfortable. The hotels were perfectly located for happy wandering. You can easily find your way back from anywhere you ventured off to.
Overall, I highly recommend as a great get-away alone or with friends.

This was a great trip! We saw a lot and our tour director was fantastic. There were times, howver, I wish we could have spent more time at other sites. For example: Neuschwanstein, Villa Carlotta, Bellagio and Lake Como.
St. Moritz was not worth it. Not really much to do. It was a let down.

Jewels of Alpine Europe was exactly what we hoped for--beautiful scenery, quaint small towns, interesting and good food and great travel companions. You can't beat Go Ahead for a worry free vacation.
