This trip to Costa Rica was amazing. The trip was great from begining to end! The tour guide (Edgar) was so knowledgable, he kept us well informed, no matter haw many questions we asked. Edgar was also a botanist, he was very well educated about all the amazing plant species in Cosat Rica.
The rain forest was so beautiful, we saw so much wildlife. The monkyes were my favorite, even when they began to howl. Lets not forget all the beautiful bird species we saw. I really enjoyed the hanging bridges hike, it was beautiful. The hot spring, fantastic, the river raft..great! Make sure you make room in your schedule to go zip lining! My favorite part of the tour would have to be the snorkeling. The crew was fantastic! One crew member would dive down deep and bring up sea life. We got to hold an octopus, bow fish, starish...and much more. I cannot forget to mention how kind the Costa Rican people are. everyone was so friendly and helpful. All in all, it was a great trip, the days went by so fast, it was over too soon. I would highly recommend this tour, I am looking forward to going back to Costa Rica!

It is hard to put into the words the absolute wonder of this Go Ahead trip. We did the pre-extension to Tortuguero and were absolutely enchanted with the lodge, the environment and the people. We felt as if we had entered paradise.
Our tour guide, Raphael, was fabulous. His attention to detail, his knowledge of the rain forest and the history of Costa Rica was mind boggling. We all wanted to bring him home with us. What a great addition to the Go Ahead staff. We were also very impressed with Mr. Flores, our bus driver. In fact, all the local guides were well chosen and informative.
The accomodations at each stop on our tour were top-shelf and we thoroughly enjoyed our time spent at each one. We found the staff to be always friendly and eager to make us comfortable.
As you can see, we thoroughly enjoyed this fabulous vacation to Costa Rica and would highly recommend Go Ahead tours.

Costa Rica

A fabulous trip with a top notch tour director and a very able and entertaining bus driver. Costa Rica is a beautiful country, the rain forest being the most amazing part of the trip for us. The extension part of this trip is a must! The people of Costa Rica are warm and friendly and we enjoyed our experiences with those we were privileged to encounter along the way.

As usual, the trip can be rated by the company you keep and the Tour Director. We had really interesting people to visit with but the outstanding Tour Director was the highlight. We learned about every animal, tree, bird and ant we saw. Totally fastenating. We also have great conversation about the history of the country. Again the Tour Director was so knowledgeable and loves to educate everyone about his country including history of the government and bordering countries.

A wonderful Costa Rican tour experience

My wife and I had a wonderful Go-Ahead Costa Rica tour experience in March 2012. We saw different regions of Costa Rica which made our tour special. From the mountains to the rainforest to the coast, we were well cared for an experienced tour guide and saw marvelous scenery; especially the birds and butterflies. In fact, our tour guide was the best we had ever experienced in a tour. He gave us an unvarnished perspective on Costa Rica including the history, current affairs and ecology concerns. Our accommodations were excellent. Our food was average, at best, when catering to a large group. The bus was excellent. Overall, we can highly recommend the Go-Ahead tour to Costa Rica

Awesome Anniversary Trip

Six of us in our family celebrated three milestone wedding anniversaries in 2012 by touring Costa Rica in March. It was a wonderful adventure, with fun things to do each and every day. Each couple was able to pick and choose which activities appealed and which did not. Some hiked, some rafted, sailed and snorkeled, some zip lined and all took pictures at every opportunity as flora and fauna we had never before seen presented themselves at every turn.
Our tour guide Rafael and our bus driver "Little Flower" were delightful, helping us to learn the history, culture and even a little of the language of this beautiful country. All members of our tour were on time, friendly and helpful. The weather was even superb! I'm delighting my students back home with photos of the exotic animals I "met" while near the equator. Awesome!

Costa Rica

This Happy Retirement, Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Birthday gift to me trip to Costa Rica as a solo traveler resulted in my return home with a bagful of special memories that I shared with 33 wonderful folks. Our tour director, Edgar, enlightened us each day with his knowledge and passion for the Costa Rican culture. Our driver, Marvin, also overextended himself to help us whenever he could. They were the icing on this very tasty cake of a trip. The resorts screamed Costa Rica....each very unique....we knew we were not in Kansas. The expereince was as they say "Pura Vida."

Love That Rainforest

With the knowledge and experience of our Costa Rican born guide we were able to embrass not only the beauty of the vegitation and animal as well as reptille and bird life, but a great deal of history, cultureand economic development. Huge amount of information and those all important photo ops.

Close to the Best

This trip was truly remarkable, as I was able to see so many birds, monkeys, and other wildlife plus experience the lush, pristine rainforests. Our Tour Director and bus driver were THE BEST. I have been on many Go Ahead trips, and I certainly have to rank this trip near the top of my list. Taking the tree tops walk was quite an experience and certainly gave me a panoramic view. I felt as though I was "on top of the world."

If you enjoy a moderate level of activity, nature, and wildlife you should consider this tour. I went as a solo traveler and felt very comfortable. There were three other solo travelers on the trip. It is different than other Go Ahead Tours that I have taken because it is more active, and in different ways. In addition to walking, you will have opportunities to hike, go sailing in the Pacific Ocean and take a boat downriver through the rainforest. The tour can accommodate all fitness levels; however, not everyone was able to do everything. To be able to do every activity, you need to be in moderately good shape and be able to be steady on your feet. You will be walking through rain forests and over some uneven trails. If you are looking for the adrenaline-rush type of experience, that is NOT what this tour is about (no zip lines and no shooting the rapids). If you are looking for history, architecture, and hotels with every amenity, this is NOT the tour for you. If you have a little taste for adventure, and long to see gorgeous natural beauty at a reasonable pace, this is a great tour.

Extremely good travel experience.

Very knowledgable, friendly and accommodating Tour Director; excellent biology and botany "lessons" along the way. Sarapiqui and Arenal resorts were very nice places to stay during our adventures in the forests. Resort in Guanacaste was truly a family oriented place; very nice, good food, little to do but read or walk the beach under an unforgiving sun on the free day. Visiting a coffee plantation was great and gave a whole new meaning to drinking a good cup of "joe."

Too many people

There were 41 people in my tour group which was too many people. The tour guide was good and the location. The snorkling was great and would of liked another day at the Flamingo Resort to do things on our own.

Coasting in Costa Rica

I am not a nature and Wildlife person, but this was one of my favorite trips with Go Ahead. We were active everyday and had free time if we wanted to. The hikes to the volcanoes and the walking in the clouds excursions were fun and the scenery was unbelievable. The food in the hotels and restaurants we went to was fabulous. Costa Rica was better than I thought it could be. I put t on my list to return and visit again.
