I loved my Australian vacation. Although the Qantas strike made things a little more difficult for our tour guide, we still got to every planned city. The hotels in Sydney, Cairns, and Melbourne were outstanding, and the ones in the Outback were clean and comfortable. Getting to hold a koala in Kuranda Village was a highlight of the tour. I would have preferred a slightly smaller group (there were 45 of us), but it wasn't too bad. I appreciated that those who wanted to do the six-mile hike around the base of Uluru (only six of us) were given the chance to do so while the majority of the group enjoyed less active activities. I would go back next month if I could afford it! :o)

We had a great time on this trip to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. Our tour director was fabulous and the group of seventeen people was just perfect for a great dynamic, cohesive group. Australia is a beautiful place to visit!

the best of australia

australia was wonderful to see but erica froggatt made the tour exceedingly excellent. i have been on other trips with other tour directors and she is the first to share a day sheet with each traveler to let us know what to expect. it saved us from asking questions multiple times and saved her from having to answer to 30 separate travelers!!! i would recommend the trip to anyone willing to invest the time.

The Amazing DOWNUNDER!

The Australia Go Ahead Tour was so well balanced. Our tour guide and our bus drivers were accommodating, informative and fun! We got to experience five specific variations on Australian culture, from the Great Barrier Reef to the Rain Forest to the Australian Bush to the desert area to big cities with museums, concerts, whales and penguins! Some of my favorites: snorkeling at the reef, learning about the School of the Air, experiencing Uluru and the desert, feeding and holding koalas, kangaroos & wallabies, watching penguins, touring Melbourne and Sydney - wait! I guess EVERYTHING was my favorite! I enjoyed every stop and learned so much about this beautiful country!

I never thought I would travel to Australia, but I did and I am very excited about it. This trip has a little bit of "everything" - city life -my personal favorite, and the "Outback". I enjoyed both, but I am definitely a "city girl". My most cherished experience was attending the symphony at the Sydney Opera House, something I will never forget. I recommend this excursion to anyone who wants a "No worries, mate" adventure.

First tour was better than expected!

This Australian trip was our first with a tour group and it was much better than I expected. The plane and ground connections were perfect with help at the airports and with baggage. Hotels were fine with supplied breakfasts a nice benefit. The tour schedule was great for us as it provided good background for each location while providing options to explore as part of the group or on your own. The tour director was very helpful and offered to find us individual trips if we desired. She arranged a whale watching trip for us in Sydney at the last moment which was great. I'd definitely recommend to a friend with one caveat. This tour is best experienced by doing considerable walking. While it fit us fine, several people on the tour were unprepared for the amount of walking required. The tour director did an admirable job trying to accommodate those people but I'm sure some of those people were disappointed. I've graded the tour as "active" for that reason.

Good Time Down Under

I had a great time on this tour; it was my 4th trip to Australia, but my first time in Alice Springs, Ayers Rock, or Melbourne. It was good to revisit Cairns and Sydney - there's always something new to see. The weather cooperated for the most part, which is always a plus. I fulfilled a longtime dream of visiting Ayers Rock, so that is one more thing to check off my "bucket list." A more organized tour director would have been nice.

A wonderful overview of Australia's highlights

This was a great itinerary featuring Australia's two of Australia's natural wonders-the Outback & the Great Barrier Reef. The tour was an excellent way to experience Australia's unique features. Our guide Simon was one of the best I've ever had-a great sense of humor, full of information & very organized & efficient.

Best of Australia (2 weeks) - review

Good trip, good locations...would recommend taking Alice Springs city and events (other than Ulura/Ayers Rock) out of the tour to have more time in Melbourne/Sydney.
Excursions that were a waste of time:
ABORIGINAL DREAM TIME (no Didgereedoo's, tour not given by an aboriginal, it was just a walk thru the desert to talk about their culture and at the end they let you talk with a few aboriginals to try to get you to buy their paintings)
SYDNEY HARBOR DINNER CRUISE (cruise left AFTER sunset, and the bay was very dark, not able to see much of anything)

This was one of the most memorable trips I've ever taken. The experiences we were afforded by GoAhead Vacations and the guides who serviced us were incomparable. Snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef, witnessing the majesty of Ayers Rock, with its history and culture, touring the Sydney Opera House, and enjoying the beauty of Melbourne made this a once in a lifetime trip that I would recommend to everyone. The friends we made on this trip were also one of the highlights!

Travel with highly compatible companions

The parallels between the US and Australia are striking. The frontier history and mindset; the vastness of the country; the diversity of the people and the terrain; the English language (kinda). Given the size of the country a bi-coastal trip is almost impossible, but this tour was very comprehensive, given that it covered the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns, the outback, Sydney and Melbourne. Suggestion: cut out Alice Springs and add a day or two in the two major cities. Ayres Rock was an incredible site, made all the more rewarding by the local guide/driver (Paul) whose insights and knmowledge were exceptional. Simon was also great at keeping our spirits high in less than ideal weather conditions-rain and cold in late May. I have experienced many nice and compatible people previously, including some now life-long friends, but the this group was just great at comaraderie and friendship. All in all, a very enjoyable, ingformative trip.
